You got my thumbs up, launching you into 1st place. Hope you win. Is this a true story; if so, people should watch weather and never take their boats out into the storms, because it is so dangerous. High winds, rough waves, and slamming winds can tip a boat over. WELL WRITTEN. liberty justice

Yes a true story - or I believe it to be true. Lots of strange things happen in the open ocean. Yes most people would have not attempted this trip as it would have been too dangerous. Was interesting when we got into 55 knot plus winds in the gulf stream. Thanks for your comments.

I was a luttle confused by some of the sailing terms but enjoyed your story.
Notes:
The boat was healed* over hard, would estimate more than 45 degrees
Typo here
heeled
Also it appears to be missing an "I"
The boat was heeled over hard. I would estimate more than 45 degrees
All the best

Thanks - I'll try to clean it up and get rid of jargon.

Scary stuff! I have been on the Bay of Biscay in a storm and it is not very nice, apart from everyone on board being sick, the risk of the ship capsising is very real, your write brought back the memory, love Dolly x

Not scary - just up there in the most exciting things I've ever done. Had I the time to think about it, I would have been really scared. Probably not far from dying but that is what makes things exciting - tempt death and live to tell about it.. In life I'm pretty risk adverse, but hang gliding, sky diving, body surfing, rock climbing, and various stupid things in Alaska have provided some entertainment. Now my 6 year old granddaughter calls me a chicken and rightly so. The risk to adrenalin ratio has is just too high now.
