Following is such a perfect word choice to visually illustrate the flight of a bird.

Then swooping down to the ground where earthly memories begin.

Great job and I'd bet your niece loves this. :)

great job! the poem was magnificent! I have just one thing you might want to change, in the first stanza you had a rhyme, but in the rest of them you didn't. It's not a requirement or anything, I just think It might flow a little better. Other than that, Great job!

I enjoyed your poem very much.
It reminded me of feeling free, like eagles wings.
Therefore, very fitting for a free poem.
Welcome back by the way. I am new here.
My least favourite line is the fledglings fledged and flown.
I like the second and last verse of four lines the best.

When I was a boy, I used to dream of flying, not exactly as birds do, but more like Eagles, or hunting birds, hovering above the ground away from bullies and danger. Well done, some excellent imagery in your deftly written free verse, great expression, wording which served the work well, I enjoyed this lovely work, great tribute gift. Well done, blessings, Roy
