Loved this poem and can certainly empathize. I always thought that, too.
And here I am, in later life, no smarter, but I do believe wiser in many ways. (or maybe on the verge :)
I wrote down the name of the book, and will give it a try. Thanks.

Hello, great subject in your poem. One does think you will become wiser with age, but alas, my psychology degree and work experience tell me otherwise, some people's mental problems become accentuated with age, especially if they haven't addressed the issues, or refuse to see they are crackers, LOL. I'm not suggesting you are one of those people, it's just my experience. But, having said that, I loved the flow and sentiment of your poem, it is very questioning and I agree with the course you've completed, if the will is there, it's never too late to turn yourself around. (I notice you're a yoga fan, me too!!)
Thanks for sharing this lovely poem, which I would recommend to other readers for review, Ana.

We definitely acquire more wisdom with age. You brought it out very well.
I've learned that life is what you give --
rejoicing in each brand-new day.
A sense of wonder, joy and faith
that even time cannot betray.
That "sense of wonder, joy and faith" never ceases, irrelevant of age.
I enjoyed your perfect meter and rhymes. A delight to read, and thank you for your author note. I am glad you enjoyed the class.

Thankfully, that 'sense of wonder, joy and faith" never ceases. Some days, it's what keeps us going.

It's definitely said that older age and life experience brings wisdom. We can look around and see many people who are older that one may think that this concept definitely doesn't apply. I like the excellent way you've presented this well written poem about wisdom. Well done JMF!
