I think most people believe that wisdom comes with age. Yet what preconceived notions do most have..that it automatically comes with age. We will set the wrongs right we'll see purpose of our lives and yet it is the last verse of your poem that tells the reader you finally get it
Rejoicing in each brand new day. A sense of wonder, not and faith that even time cannot betray. Kat

Very well written. Thoughtful, laying out your point of view regarding expectations versus realizations....
Age bring nothing but age...we haveto immerse ourselves and continue life's journey in order to learn and grow...

They do say that wisdom comes with age : ) One of the things I like about getting old is the gift of sharing my experiences, good and bad, with friends, family and colleges. I have learned many lessons, traveled near and very far and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have always lived with the idea, that we only have one life, get out there and live it!!
Excellent poem friend

Comment from Gloria ....
Beautifully rhymed and metre poem, Janet. I find wisdom sometimes comes with age and sometimes it gets lost with age and sometimes it doesn't come at all.
I'm not familiar with Julia Cameron but shall definitely have a look right I've finished this review.
A most uplifting poem and many thanks for sharing.

Thank you Gloria for your thoughtful and encouraging review.
I've read 3 or 4 of her books and find them inspirational. I actually started writing after reading "The Artist Way". She definitely has a way of encouraging creativity in writing, painting, or whatever you like to do.

Very nicely done, great rhyme and meter and subject. Life is for me living to please God and in doing that you must give back. We are often to selfish these days, myself included, but there is no reward in being selfish, it is only in giving that we reap rewards, even if those we give to do not know or do not appreciate it. Well done.

HELLO JMF4119: Viewing your poem here reminds me of me. When I was a young child, I thought that the older I got, the smarter I'd get. Well...was I in for a sobering awakening. I got smarter, not by ageing, but by trial and error. We live and we learn. Experience teaches us every time. We learn what we live; and then we live what we've learned. When we buy a new car, appliance, radio, TV set, clothing, etc. These things often comes with a buyer's/owner's manual. This manual comes from the manufacturer of the item. It's designed to show us how to use the item; in a way that it will serve us best. People come from a manufacturer too: "GOD. " He's also designed a manual; the Holy Bible. When we learn how to use it in a way that will serve us best, and live that way, we find rejoicing in each brand-new day of our lives. A sense of wonder, joy, and faith, that even time cannot betray. God bless you, JFM4119. Cordially: rhonnie69.

What a mesmerizing artwork! And thank you for recommending the book about creativity. I admired your rhymed quatrains and "last year's snow" simile. Smiles- Joan

I love your poem.. and what you say is so true.. it is so important to try and be at peace with yourself.. at peace with the past, so as to make yourself available for the present.. because if you are free to experience and immerse yourself in the moment, I believe it lends to helping us develop a deeper appreciation and grateful heart for life and the beauty and blessings inherent in every day ---

I love the title of your poem :) I'm on the verge too, but doubt I'll get it figured out lol! Sounds like a good book. A class on just one book sounds pretty intense.
My favorite moment in this poem:
- "I've shared my dreams, abandoned fears --
And righted many hurtful wrongs."
I can definitely relate.

This is the 3rd class I've done using her books. The first one "The Artist Way" was what started me writing. They are very inspirational. In this last one "It's Never too Late to Begin Again", one of the assignments was to write our memoirs during the 12 week course. You were to divide your life into 12 segments of years and each week write your memoirs for that time period. For me, it was 6 years of my life each week. It was humbling, inspiring and motivating. It gave me loads of ideas for poems from memories I had all but forgotten. It also brought back some painful experiences that I wish were still forgotten. haha
Thanks for reading my poem.
Blessings
