Enjoyed the conversational humor in this one. It feels like this ghazal form is great for nagging. I'm guessing from the last lines that the tortillas had to be made first?

Oh, thank you, Boogienights, for your delicious review. I awoke at two in the morning to write by flashlight as many tortilla jokes as possible.

In my opinion, while I must confess I am disinterested in the form, I found the poem charming in its engaging and humorous write and smooth movement in its defined construction. I thoroughly enjoyed my read...

Yes, yes, yes, evesayshi. I wrote an engaging and humorous poem because I knew a lot of Western poets would be intimidated by the defined construction of the Middle Eastern Ghazal. Thank you for your review.

I like this and tortillas. The best I've had were in New Mexico. My wife and I still mention them when eating Mexican food out with friends. Thanks for a fun read.

Oh, Old Soldier, I've had tortillas in New Mexico, but never homemade. I'm in Mexico Mexico no and will make a trip to La Gloria tomorrow to buy tortillas. Thank you for your review. I'm glad you found this a fun read.

Hi there;
Thank you for introducing me to a new poetic form; the Ghazal.
Your use of the format and the repeating of tortillas was felt throughout the piece, and the reader is left with either a hunger for the tortilla or a curiosity about Rob's forgetfulness.
Good luck in the contest,
~patty~

Nicely done! I love the ghazal form and you have done it well here - plus I enjoy the humor of it. I've actually made tortillas myself and the fresh ones are delicious. Good luck - in the contest, and making the product :))
"What hath God wrought? The tortillas." for this line alone you deserve a six, lol.

Yes, Carol, "What hath God wrought? The tortillas." The Middle Eastern Ghazal intimidates many Westerners on FanStory, so I wrote one that would be silly, fun, and approachable to demystify the form. Thank you for your generous six star review and wishing me good luck in the contest.

I liked it for what it was, it was outside my realm of writing but I enjoyed none the less, the tasty frisbee part got a chuckle out of me. Keep up the good work.

Yes, Philip, tasty Frisbees--the tortillas. The Middle Eastern Ghazal intimidates many Westerners on FanStory, so I wrote one that would be silly, fun, and approachable to demystify the form. Thank you for your generous review.

This whetted my appetite as I thought of the tortillas. No I am not going on ghazal fashion, although I was tempted. They seem somewhat similar to the chupatis found on the Indian subcontinent. A mouth-watering ghazal, from Persia (modern day Iran) I believe.

Oh, thank you, Pantygynt, for your detailed review. Yes, Ghazals were written in Persia. I'm glad that the tortillas whetted your apppetite if not the Ghazal form.

You do follow the rules for the contest. This is well done and I like the rhyme of this poem. To me the first stanza is the better one. This is well done, thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
