It is the same everywhere, they are hooked, yes, literally hooked on coffee, they give up one addiction for another. You also write -- "My AA program was asking me to be accountable for my own conduct, clean up my side of the street, put my energy into taking a personal inventory and make amends to those I may have harmed. Because I was so early in recovery, I had yet to get a sponsor or work the steps. I couldn't weave all of what "seemed to be two different approaches to healing into one cozy quilt." I recognize a lot of this and you certainly have it down pact. fortunately I didn't have too many wrongs to make up for, my wife was one of the ones I did the most wrong to, unfortunately. I did not fully leave alcohol alone until I fully discovered God, again. Most people in AA, where I went could not even say the word God and made it sound like a bad word. You're writing a great book here, good luck with it and thanks for sharing.

Wow, I guess meetings are different everywhere. Not like that here, but not pushed either, as that term often turns people, who may have a chance, away. For many it takes some time in recovery to develop a relationship with their Higher Power. My damage concerned my three sons, there were many times I just wasn't there emotionally. They were more often sins of omission than commission.
The book was published last year. Because it is written anonymously, in keeping with the AA traditions, it is quite difficult to market.

Yes, it is very difficult to market, especially without a name but you could do like Bill and use one name only but he uses his entire name and as long as you don't name specific people and specific places it is still anonymous. And, as you stated in your book, people don't look for such books until they finally admit they have hit bottom.

The Alcohol problem runs in families and nearly every family has an alcoholic member attached to it. It is a sickness and one that is difficult to overcome. I love the poem you inserted in your essay.
