Great picture selection for this poem that I found to be very interesting. The poem is filled with lots of both imagery and emotions. The reader could relate.

What a powerful opening stanza, framed by the artwork you chose which completely complement the poem.

Loneliness comes in different
Shades and colors,
Sometimes when we're alone
And sometimes with others

A great poem, nice word conjuration, and a great theme to bease your poem on.

A very thought provoking thought.. I LOVE your made up word... it says so much in just one word.. Alonelyness is something that I believe we all experience.. although it defies logic.. because how can we, as human beings be lonely, in a world with almost 8 billion people, UNLESS it is an internal state of affairs.. not dependent on who is around us -- which I believe it is.. I think most of us can identify with being with a group of people, or maybe just one person, but still feel LONELY, disconnected, and alone.. and are enveloped by alonelyness.. but I agree with your last sentence, "...Someday the sweetest person you've ever known Will unexpectedly appear, like a miracle." I believe that Alonelyness is almost a pre-cursor to being able to love.. because it often open us up and prepares us because of a sweet appreciation of its absence.. thank you for this great share.. well done!

First love the hopeful ending line:
Will unexpectedly appear, like a miracle
Also: Alonelyness
I will (not in a poem) take your well coined phrase. Very clever and I love coined phrases.
Very sad but well penned read..
yours, diana

Donna, This is a very well written poem about Alonelyness. I have to be honest. I have never heard this word until I read your work. It makes a lot of sense to me. Sometimes we can be in a crowd of people and feel alone. You used very good words and art work. The only thing that helps me not feel that way is knowing the Lord is with me always as with all of us! love, Teri

Dear Teri, Thank you for your comments and review. I think "Alonelyness" is the first word I ever made up. Maybe someday it will be in the dictionary! You know that the Lord is with you always, but I can't always feel that way, unfortunately. Sometimes it feel as though He's a universe away. Donna

I have heard say, and I agree...there is a huge difference between being alone, and being lonely. I seek out times to be alone...a walk in the woods, a seat on a pew in an empty church...because that alone time gives me the gift of no distraction and allows me to self reflect. I have, however, felt lonely in a room full of people--if they were, say attending the same play as I was but not part of a circle of friends.
Good points...

Karenina

Dear Karenina, I'm glad you got the meanings of my poem - alonelyness can take on so many meanings. Thank you for your comments and review. I sought out Fan Story so I wouldn't feel so lonely, and even though I have never met any of you in person, it makes me feel a lot better. Dove

Thank you for this detailed desciption and defintion of a word you made up that could easily fit in Webster's dictionary. After 30byears of a rollar costar marriage that didn't work, for these past 15 years, I love living by myself. I go when I want to go, when I want to lay around I do that too. I'm a licensed ordained Evangelist. I've preached out in the streets, Ive been out on the streets feeding the needy, teaching the children about Jesus, and inspiring then to learn scripture by rewards of treats. Ive traveled near and far preaching the word of God. In June I'll be 65 and I try to resort more to teaching and one on one. I council to young women and a few women my age. But I don't ever think about loneliness because I learned long ago that Im NEVER ALONE. Because Jesus is with me and in me. But I enjoyed reading your poem and I learned a new word. Thank you

A very well-written poem about being alone and loneliness. I am most of the day home alone but I never feel lonely or bored. I keep myself busy during the day and before I know the day is over and my daughter returns from work.

This is very powerful, "Loneliness comes in different Shades and colors, Sometimes when we're alone, And sometimes with others" this is very relatable. Everyone goes through times when they feel lonely, even when they are with someone. And many times it is hard for others to always notice when people are feeling lonely. I think having a passion for writing as you have, seems to help. A passion for something helps to pass the loneliness one feels in life. I would love to see more description of things in your writing. But you write with power, and your writing is not at all empty it is very meaningful.
