Well I would state that you definitely made your point. I promise dragonskulls whenever I post a poem that requires a count... I don't want your guy to track me down and make his point. thanks, diana

Hey, Michael, hi. Thank you so much for the big sixer, friend. Yeah, just as soon as I came across this picture I knew it was perfect for this piece. "Less miserable than Genghis Khan" Hahaha. I really appreciate the generous stars, Mike. I'm glad you had a chuckle at my silly little rant. I've had this dumb idea in head for a few days and figured I'd go ahead and throw it in here. Thank you again. Have a great night.

Really? We give grace to people who don't comply?
I didn't know that.
But I avoid prompts as a rule. There's nothing blind,
and I don't care to pay five dollars to folk more popular than me.
On a good day, I can count to seventeen before breakfast.
What takes them so long?

Peace, Lee

Haha. I surely don't know. Yeah, once the deadline passes they have 24 hours to fix their entry. After the 24 hours then the piece gets disqualified. I totally agree with the popularity rip off aspect of this site but what can you do? I still like the prompts once in a while. Thank you for the great review, Lee. I really appreciate the generous stars.

Part of the problem is down to incompetent mathematics, but part may be down to cultural differences upon which even the dictionaries disagree. I came upon this with William -- two or three syllables?

Thank you for the great review, Pantygynt. Yeah, that's a lot of it too, how people say the word. I would say 2 syllables for William but many will say 3. I can understand when that's the case but when it's just a matter of not counting simple words and still getting it incorrect. But mistakes happen. I steer clear of words I'm not sure of when it comes to syllable counting contests. I just had this silly idea in my head for a 5-7-5 so I threw it in there, lol. I really appreciate the generous stars. Have a great day.

It does seem silly that people would mess up the syllable count but there are some words where the syllable count is not as it appears to be...or even how it sounds read aloud. For example, prayer and fire are one syllable! Still, I think all of us would tend to agree with this rant. Well put...and with the correct 17 syllable count!

Perfect picture to complement the tone!

Thank you for the great review, rd. Yeah, I try to avoid those kind of words when it's a syllable count contest, lol. And just the way some people pronounce words as one or two syllables. I stay away from those. I really appreciate the gracious stars, rd. I'm glad you liked this silly thing. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for your kind reply. When using such words, I have sometimes had to share a link to the syllable counter to prove the point! :)

    Have a wonderful day too!

This is a good entry for the contest. I have entered contests where I never got a message that contest voting had begun. I could not even vote. Is that supposed to happen with site sponsored contests? I agree with you. But, perhaps they do not have the time to disqualify it on the way in. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for the great review, Pamusart. Yes, the contests that the site sponsors you don't get a message. The committee is voting on those and it usually takes a few days for the results. Unless it's a daily prompt. If it's a daily prompt you should get a message. The members vote for those. Most of the contests are policed by the committee before they go to booth. They use to just disqualify them but now they give them time to fix it before they get disqualified. I really appreciate the generous stars. I'm glad you liked this little rant.

Some might say patience is a virtue and giving second chances is one of those 'love thy neighbour' exercises, or rules are meant to be broken, or lend a guiding hand, but who am I to judge! Good luck with the contest, love Dolly x

Lol, yep, all those should come in play but I'm not much for patience once the deadline passes, haha. Thank you for the great review, Dolly.

Your preaching to the choir on this one, lol. I whole-heartedly agree with you on this one. Just DQ the piece and move on. Obviously, the person didn't care enough to count in the first place.

Good luck,
Russell

Thank you for the great review, Russell. Yeah, they use to have it that way but now they give them time to fix it. I was disqualified for a contest once because I had "it's" rather than "it is." So sometimes I'm sure it's just common mistakes but what can you do? Lol. I appreciate the generous stars, R. Thank you again.
