Oh, Vance! What an original and lovely poem. I can so easily imagine those clouds. Yes, close our eyes and step out in faith, believing God answers ALL prayers, just maybe not the way we envisioned. :))

I enjoyed your poem, Vance. You did a good job expressing your thoughts/feelings about the purpose of clouds. They are as you say--magical, mystical. God knows and will use our wishes as He sees fit in His plan. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Go ahead(,) look up and whisper those soft wishes - consider revising it this way to help it read smoother :)

Blow them towards the fluffy clouds (with) hope - or you can leave 'and' in there and just remove the comma

Wow, yes, I've heard of this before...look up to the clouds and send your wishes heavenward. When clouds are present, He is near. Well penned, Vance. Love that you use the 'puffed belly' analogy, written with such rich stain...lovely and metaphorical. I found this a sweet, simple write from a thoughtful and keen perspective. Just the two minor edits I suggested above, nothing major :) I love clouds too... in case you didn't gather that from my recent installment, Candid Reflections :)

Keep writing. Until your next installment ...

This is a nicely drafted free verse about light and a moment of gratitude, the direction is nicely expressed;Typo: a moment of Gratitiude (for a moment of Gratitude); well said, well done. Keep Writing -- DR ALCREATOR

judging from your blurb AFTER the prose, Me thinks you may be unawares of the hidden meaning of what you just created. This is (EVEN IN IT'S BREVITY) an ASTOUNDING metaphor. On the surface, it's the traditional sunny day/fluffy clouds/God in Heaven nicey nice. The first sentence ..."look up and whisper, those soft wishes" is speaking of the ORIGINAL CREATIVE PROCESS (In the beginning was the word...God spoke the world into existance) You are telling us to speak(whisper) our desires OUT LOUD in FAITH as CO CREATORS -Just as GOD did with the earth and it's inhabitants. Secondly, clouds are a visual representation of the Heavens. If our desires as stated in your prose are "swallowed up" (our sincere prayers/good intentions are heard and soon to be honored) and then become a permanent "stain" (the positve effects of our well wishes that will forever inspire and heal others) Then that means the clouds will from that day forward "rain down" our spiritual "mark" upon mankind, as well as facilitating mankind's BASKING in it's goodness on "sunny days". You can't hide from me, Mr. Grey. I SEE you. You are an ANGEL

Dear Vance, I've wished upon a star before, but never a cloud. l like your concept. When I first read your poem I was thinking in terms of personal wishes so I was confused with your message about thanks to God and using the wish to create joy and gratitude for mankind. That is an entirely different perspective and one that has a more universal appeal. When I reread it, your meaning was clear, but I had to go back to find that out. I agree with another reader that your first line would have more power if you rearranged the punctuation. Maybe "Go ahead...look up. whisper those soft wishes." Gives the reader a chance to pause and ponder. By the way, if you have the time, I would like to know what you consider soft wishes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Marge

Dear Marge; what a sincere delight to read your lovely and very thoughtful review, so sincerely appreciated. I consider "soft" wishes to be those of gentle intention, reaching their goal with a sweet touch rather than a harsh or urgent intention perhaps originating from fear or anger. Marge, I cannot thank you enough for your really meaningful gift of thought and perspective that you have shared with me here, and I do hope to see you often! Blessings and Hugs! Vance

Vance, ahh...this is a beautifully written free verse. It gave me a sense of wonder and feelings of making a wish up to the clouds and having the angels deliver them. Thank you. ~DD

A very well-written encouraging and uplifting poem. We can find inspiration in the most common things if we open our eyes and minds for the beauty around us.

Great imagery, watching my wishes being embraced by my favorite puffy cloud in the bluest of skies. The reader will be drawn recalling how they secretly done this very thing. But you add another level of this. We grow from child-like wonder to a wondering spiritual being knowing that God will if best for us, grant our wishes and scoop up all of our loved ones to hold them dearly as we hoped for. Very nicely expressed
