This cinquain, Grief, has the right set up and captures that moment when the emotions swell to the flood stage. "Pain contained in a drop like rain" Great line.

I think this is a good entry for the Cinquain Poetry writing prompt.
Your short verse paints a sad, but lovely picture.
Good luck to you with the competition.

Dear frogbook, Perfect description of grief. The light blue background goes with the "blue eyes" in the poem. It looks like a child's grief, maybe over the loss of a parent. The tear does look like a rain drop. Good luck in the contest. Dove

The artwork you choose to go with your poem captured my attention
Just looking into her face, you can see the pain and sorrow Those blues eyes should be bright with joy yet they say those days are gone. .
Thank you for sharing

This is a succinct yet very expressive cinquan.I wish you contest luck. Actually, when I visualize tears, I realize it's the rest of the picture which dictates grief, hurt, or happiness. The tears by themselves are just water. Your picture is perect for your poem

Oh, so sad, especially when it's a little one. Children feel things so much more strongly at times, don't they; as if the sorrow will last forever! Very nice cinquain, and a beautiful presentation.

Beautifully done cinquain, JoAnn!! The title gives me a sense of what the poem will be about but the cause of the grief is not told. Instead, we observe the pain and grief in the tears which are the focus of the poem and often that is how it is with grief - we observe it but we don't fully know or understand another's pain.

Hi again,
The emotion of this cinquain is strong and easy to feel . I like the line, "Dewey pearls shed." What a perfect description of a painful tear falling silently. The sorrow you speak of in your poem comes through.

This is a good cinquain poem. It has that haiku-like quality that one expects with the form. Very sharp and compassionate focus on one single emotion. with an appropriate and helpful picture.
[The devil's advocate wonders: Don't brown eyes ever cry in the rain? What's up with that?]
