I love this. A well-written Sedoka--I call them two haiku's in one. Like the Huck Finn vibe of your first stanza and then the last line is so coming of age and perfect! Good luck in the contest. This is a solid entry!

Yup, "the good old days"... we older people look at the youth of today and what we see are basement troglodytes playing video games into the late night. Where is the adventure, the imagination, the dreams of "days gone by"? Technology and modern conveniences have taken so much away from a kid growing up. I wonder, when these kids get to be my age, what will they consider "the good old days"? This is a very nice Sedoka that I appreciate. Best wishes.

This is a good entry for the contest. I am not sure why men and boys are aftaid of girls. My honest guess is because it is up to the boy to approach the girl. The boy risks rejection, but, the girl does not have to.
A second reason is that I think the female brain just thinks differently. She expects him to want to communicate with her. But, she does not tell him how to do it. Men are much more direct than women are. Women are more subtle. We think we are being so clear. But, I think there is subtlety that men just do not get. Another woman would understand what was said.
Why do men forget birthdays and wedding anniversaries? I do not know. Those things are important to women. Men just do not view remembering a priority. Why not? They know there will be a fight, maybe tears, maybe the couch. Is this what they want? Is it considered wimpy. You got me going. Thank you for sharing. It is funny how boys will tease and even push girls that they like until she lets him know to stop. They treat her just as they would another boy because they do not know girls are different. Thank you for sharing
