You are a truly kindhearted man Tony. I'm glad you helped the little bee and glad you wrote such a beautiful sonnet about it. I enjoyed the beautiful melodic rhythm and perfect rhymes (such as we've come to expect from you) but I also enjoyed where the words took my imagination. The images were vivid and the underlying theme of caring for those in need was delightful to contemplate. There is honey at the end of the day. ;p

What a lovely review! Honey to the ears! Now there's a metaphor that doesn't quite work as intended! LOL

LOL Well, it was certainly good for a gooey image and a laugh. ;p

This is deserving of that sixth star! As a poet, your perceptions of the smallest creatures are wonderful to read; you interpret simple pleasures in life so beautiful, it brings on those goosebumps. I love how you ended it--your heart set fee because it was saved, and then home to have some of that honey for your tea. Beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Her jointed legs brush moisture from her head,
meticulous, and with exacting care.
She tries her wings; a sudden vibrant spread
of gossamer beats hard upon the air
I felt triumphant FOR her when she took off. What a great poem! I loved it. It was sweet and simple and smile inducing. Thank you for your careful way with your reader. You gently lead them along the path and deliver them to a warm cup of tea with honey. Nice.

Hello Tony,
It appears you've recently found a new muse or rediscovered an old one
who loves the simplicity of a single bee in need.
Marvelous descriptive imagery and such a wonderful playful line
connecting the bee, honey and tea.
a lovely pastoral sonnet
Well done
I really enjoy this type of poem.

I love the photo of the close-up bee! Did you write this poem after seeing this photo? Or did the poem come first? I love your descriptions of the bee clinging to the "half-chewed hay". You tell a delightful tale of a bee you have saved from certain death. You kept my interest as you rhymed your words so well. The flow and meter were spots on. I love the way you describe the bee righting herself so as to fly away unscathed. The end of the poem is cute and clever, as you use the word "honey," which could be taken several ways. I enjoyed reading this light-hearted poem with a life-giving message. Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Jesse

Many thanks, Jesse. I appreciate your review and kind words. Actually I rescued this bee while filling a water trough for our new young calves, and then had to search for a suitable photo to go with the poem. Best wishes, Tony

So, it is a true story! All the better for my enjoyment of your poem. I love that you rescued a bee from certain death. This shows the kindness in your heart, and I appreciate this very much.

Loved this Tony. The whole story of how you saved the bee. They're so beautiful and environmentally important too. Glad for a happy ending. Your story told so well and the bees description. "a poor bedraggled thing with sodden wings," It's those little things that can be a highlight in an otherwise ordinary day. I'm sure it was for the bee too.

That is so cool! I buy raw honey a lot. it replaces sugar. I.m not sure if people even know how important bees are in the ecosystem.,

This is a fun read... you saved the little bee... love it. Although it was purely selfish gesture as you went home to tea and HONEY... I loved this from the artwork to the colors and most of all your delightful poem. yours, diana

Many thanks, Diana. I appreciate your supportive comments. As you say, my motives were selfish - a personal gratification in doing something that seemed right at the time. I am, however, quite protective of the bees from the ten hives on our property. They provide delicious honey and pollinate all of our flowers and vegetables. Best wishes, Tony
