This is a fun poem and I like how it is written from the viewpoint of the dog. It captures a good feeling and warms the reader's heart. The picture fits the poem perfectly.

Hi Connie :)
I enjoyed reading your poem and I love the photo - it looks like Madeline and the dog are having a stare-off!
Lovely rhyme and meter, nice alliteration (cute/cuddly) and warming subject.
Fondest regards, Debra x

What a darling picture! Your poem is so nicely done and I'm sure they are both quite curious of each other. The rhymes and cadence both flow nicely. I enjoyed this one a lot and seeing your adorable granddaughter!

Aww... It's wonderful that most dogs don't get too jealous over the fawning that babies get. In awhile, the dog usually bonds and the feeling is usually mutual. Kids and dogs just seem to go together. Your poem reflects that beautifully.

Thank you, Rose, for your delightful review. Yes, I agree, that kids and dogs do seem to go together. They are two of my favorite subjects about which to write.
    My best to you.

So sweet Connie! Our family dogs always loved the babies as much as we did. They seem to know they need protecting. I love the picture dear. My goodness you have been busy. Last I remember it was all about Jack. Did I miss Madeline somehow? How is Jack? Good job Connie. Nancy

What a wonderful review, Nancy! Thank you so much for both the review and the six-star rating. You asked how Jack is doing. He is the sweetest little boy, all of four years old now; and he has a real knack for making Madeline laugh. I savor the time I get to be with them, as I remember how quickly my daughter grew up and how they get to an age where you can't hold them as much. Madeline's first birthday is May 10th.
For the first three years of Jack's life, Bill and I put together a book of photographs and poetry for his birthday. Now we must do that for Madeline, so you might be reading a little more about Madeline in the next month or two.
Thanks again, my dear friend in Nevada, for your wonderful support. Always good to hear from you.
    Hugs,
    Connie

Hi Connie. Your poem is well written, flows well and has good rhyming about an important topic. Madeline is adorable and getting so big already. Time flies. I guess Jack, being big brother, is doing well, too. The dog is adorable. Sometimes dogs do take a backseat to kids and they end up in an animal shelter or worse. I'm glad your granddog is not one of them. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for such a thoughtful review. Yes, Madeline is growing fast, as is Jack. I cherish this time
with them when they are so young.
Thanks again and hope you have a good weekend.

Connie, I love this poem! How cute the picture, and the words are a perfect match for what we see in the photo. You have always had the gift of speaking for the family dog and once again, you've managed to put the dog's words into a perfectly rhymed and metered poem. I loved it top to bottom and found nothing to complain about. You get my last six, and I'm so glad I had one left for this deserving poem.

Thank you, my dear friend, for such a lovely review and a six-star rating, which is always special.
I do enjoy speaking for our family pets. Hmmm . . . maybe I should have been a dog!

It's always good to hear from you. I've enjoyed reading your wonderful poetry in Songs Before Dawn. Hope you are doing well.
    Hugs,

What an adorable picture of your little granddaughter and the cute little dog! I had to giggle and smile as I read this and looked at the picture. You used very cute words to go with the adorable picture! Thanks for the smile tonight! Blessings, Teri

I'm not a poet so can't rate on technique. I think this is a cute poem, tho. Looks like they're nose to nose and who knows who will give up first. Lol.

Small nit here, I think. > Looks like my rein's (reign's) come to an end.<

Thanks so much for your review and for the correct spelling of reign. I've made that change.
