I thoroughly enjoyed reading this piece...especially the "voice"
used. It clearly portrayed stoic, weary and (somehow) a subtle
sense of self-superiority.
I suppose, given their longevity and general lack of mobility, it
only makes sense that they would become deep thinkers :-)
It's funny, we tend to think in terms of trees (the sequoias, the
bristlecones) when it comes to the earth's "revered sentinels"...
but, in truth, it is the rocks that have (and will) witness the
eventual disposition of all species...including we homo sapiens!
LOL - now that I think about it...no wonder Buddha, The Thinker,
The Sphinx and Mt. Rushmore are wrought in stone :-)
Very nicely done!!

I think this is an interesting entry for the A Different Perspective writing prompt.
Your story of being a rock amongst rocks is well told.
Good luck to you with the competition.

I really like how you climbed inside a stone's mind. You capture what it must be like for a sedentary (mostly) object like a stone to observe the rise and fall of human civilizations for aeons. I especially like this observation: "the same story keeps replaying over and over again." interesting that Speaker knows what the finale of "it" will be but isn't sharing with mere mortals who likely wouldn't get it anyhow. Great characterization. This should do very well in the contest.

Some of you, Rock, has nicely held my wine in them, I think.
Until I dropped it - then lost track of where the shards landed.
Probably back on my dining table...
Where will our final resting place be?
Deep cold space or
will we all contract into a blazing flash of glory.
Funny thing, we know our future,
but it is for you to figure out.

This captures the entire existence of rocks existing on our planet aS well as their ultimate end...at least in speculation. Good luck with this in the contest. Well done.

interesting perspective for a solid mass from the beginning of time, as we would measure, to be entertained watching the human race evolve. If only they could talk. I guess some of them do with the etchings and paintings done on them. lol
good luck in the contest
