This poem, Regrets, seems to point towards the President and his cartoonish displays: tweeting like a thirteen-year-old girl, calling people names like a spoiled child, surrounding himself with yes men, and pretending to govern while systematically undermining the society in the United States.

A new word. I like it. Good rhyming. I think we have to turn many blind eyes in our lifetime. We just do the best we can with what we've got. Everyone looks for what is closest to their own truth in what they vote for and who they vote for. Marilyn

Read through this contemplative piece, enjoyed it, though it also brings into thought how exhausting and twisted things get in the attempt for people to coexist, with the struggle to control and gain power.
The tone of the piece, reflective... weighted down with being faced with two options that oppose, that rock and a hard place, having to compromise with your own beliefs as the bannerman for your beliefs doesn't really adhere to them. It leaves all sorts of paradox that is easier not to look at at all.
Nice, pleasing flow in the words here.

Thanks very much, Turtle. I'll let you in on a secret - I'm actually getting a bit tired of so many "negative" words in this little book I've acquired. I'm quite capable of dragging myself into dark places without too much encouragement, but it seems like 9 times out of 10, I open up the book and go, "Really? Again?" A few more "butterflies and rainbows" words wouldn't go astray. Many thanks for the great review - Craig

Of course, it could always be like the guy who was taking a Rorschach test, and thought every inkblot looked like a pornographic image. When the psychiatrist told him, "You have a filthy mind!", he responded, "Well, you're the one showing nothing but dirty pictures!" I hope it's not like that LOL

And of course in Australia you don't have the choice to just opt out if you don't like the political choices. Still it's a good policy even though once in a while you find you must eluscate to the shenanigans that transpire.

No, but we do have the option, in the privacy of the voting booth, to add Blinky Bill or Bunyip Bluegum to the voting form, and select them as our candidate of choice :) Many thanks, Gloria. Craig

the reasoning, dead innocents are cheaper for the tax payer than keeping the jail full.

Since you are from Australia, maybe this poem is not about Trump. Yesterday, you might not have been giving Trump a day of rest as I thought. Do you have similar political problems in Australia? About your poem though, I thought that it was very well thought out. I know that I am turning a blind eye to Trump, waiting for it to pass, hoping he can keep us afloat despite severe moral deficiencies. Nice reading.

Hi Debbie, We have hypocrisy, and people behaving childishly, as politicians everywhere tend to do, I think. But not on the scale that we see from the current President. I don't think the US has ever seen the likes of it before, either. It could be about Trump, and quite a few others :) Many thanks, Craig

I am not someone who has grasped poetry meter very well, so I cannot comment on that aspect of your poem. But I can say I found it easy to read through each line and nothing 'tripped' me up.
