THius did not appear in my messages because it is entered in a blind contest. I was alerted to its existence by the prose story and I thought that there had to be a Sword 1 somewhere.
This is quite a lyrical piece of free verse and of course having read the "2" I know the background. That makes a difference but I think it will stand alone as an intriguing piece.

Thank you for your kind and encouraging comments. It took me a long time to accept free verse poetry and I am still not sure if I understand it 100% but I figured I would give it a try.

You'll have to post a photo of your sword, it sounds beautiful. This is a wonderful poem for the Free Verse contest, and what a prized object it is, too! Good luck in the contest! :) Sandra xxx

Wow. A very nice choice for this free-verse poetry contest. I loved that you used some medieval terminology to describe the sword (scribed for you). Good luck in this contest.

You have more than just a dear friend... you have a magical connection with someone who sees you are worthy of such a sword! I'm glad you treasure both. Thank you for sharing this writing and good luck.

A gift such as this undoubtedly holds a deeper meaning than I can discern...though the tone is reverent and clearly you treasure this gift.....I am left to wonder were you a warrior for his honor? Did he wish to convey to you that you are a soldier for Christ? The questions need not be answered to appreciate the value you place on this gift. It touched your heart, that is enough....

Of course, the reader is left wanting to know more, which is what good poetry often does. This is great with a great photo to match. This would be great developed into a story so we can have the details and not be left hanging. Super job!

Thank you for reviewing and your kind, encouraging comments. I will definitely have to remember your comment about a story around the sword. Perhaps I will do that. Thanks.

This is a lovely free verse poem. It describes a unique gift received, one tailored specifically for the receiver from the giver. All gifts that meaningful are not forgotten. Much luck in the contest with this well-written entry. Marilyn

Beautiful poem about your sword. They are unique with the artwork.
I've held some and they are heavy. I hope that you still have yours.
Ephesians 6 is about God's sword - use yours wisely. flylikeaneagle

Thank you for reviewing, I really appreciate your comments. I agree they can be heavy, mine is, standing in its place of honor beside my bed, silently protecting me.
