Hell -kettle is the word of the day, huh? Who would I thought that I would learn that today. I love your nonet. I can feel the tension of your fish family. . .then their happiness. "Mom makes merry." How delightfully you put it.

This is so fun. Very well done, Poor sardines, I watched the Blue Ocean on BBC and it really amazes me that there are any of the little guys left. Everyone eats them. What an awful life to worry always you will be eaten. ={ Great poem. Rox

Thanks very much for the great review, Rox. It sure wouldn't be fun to be one of them. Cheers, Craig

I understand that mid Australia is a hell kettle. Not aligning your poem with it but I suspect there is far more to it than meets the eye. It is pleasant and could apply to many aspects of life as all good poems should.

I spent your winter primarily near coast learning to coach rugby referees. What I heard about the interior and the vehicle that go there are not for the faint of heart.

OK, you may have a point. But most people who venture into the centre come out alive... at least half, anyway :)

This is a good entry for the contest. Well written. Well rhymed. Easy to read. Flows well. For some reason when I read this, I thought about the relationship between the Clownfish and sea anemones. It is mutually beneficial. The Clownfish is immune to the sea anemone's poison and thus is protected against predators. The anemone gets scraps of food that the Clownfish drops. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing. It is a good thing that fish parents do not get attached to their young

Are you sure? I guess with some, they don't even get to meet them. Thanks, Pam for the great review and good wishes. Craig

Hello, a good Nonet poem for the competition, I think its clever the way you call it a 'hell kettle'. Best of luck with your entry. I have no ideas for change and wondered if you saw fish where you come from, thanks. Ana

I don't see fish where I an very often, as I'm about 150 miles from the coast. The best I could hope for is trout in a dam, or minnows in a stream if I was inclined to go looking :) Thanks for the kind remarks, Ana - Craig

Thank goodness the sardine escaped & won't end up in a can on a shelf. I hate the thought of eating one of those fish. Good job Craig on your nonet for the contest. All lines, syllables are correct with a good little story. Good use of alliteration 'w' 'h' 'm' 'c' 'd'. Best wishes.
