I don't understand form well enough to judge compliance - but your words convey a clear and timely message that most of us could benefit from. Excellent work.

Good reflected attributes here. I like this form of short poem. Though it can be like a dictionary because of what the form demands, it can be an attractive poem, and you have done well here.
Wishing you good luck with the outcome.
Best wishes.

    Hello Friend,
I enjoyed penning this particular diamante. Not as easy as they appear, but satisfying if the effect can be arrived at without seeming forced.
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review...

I am really becoming a fan of the Diamante poetry style. What a great topic to write about. I see apathy as a teacher every day and it's disheartening. I still strive to care and your poem is encouraging to me. Thanks. Good luck with the contest.

    Hello Cindy,
The first time I heard the word, "apathy," I was sitting in my 9th grade English class, and my favorite teacher said, "Man's greatest sin is apathy." I have never forgotten those words or her.
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review. Feel free to share my diamante with your students; I would be honored...

Thank you. I will do that. I teach social studies and the word apathy is used often. So glad to have you willing to share.

Hi, this is a fantastic poem that describes the divide here in America well. There are definitely those uncaring and cold and yet, some still have compassion for others.

    Hello Friend,
Thank you ever so much for your exceptional rating and thoughtful review. My favorite high school English teacher once remarked to our class that "Apathy is man's greatest sin." Her words were true then, and they surely seem to be true today...
Thank you again. I so appreciate your affirmation of my work...

I think this is a good entry for the Diamante writing prompt.
Your well structured verse shows the flip side of Apathy; Compassion.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

An excellent Diamante poem in perfect Diamante form.
I enjoyed the progression of this topic.

Excellent quote and a perfect title for this one.

This appears to be a perfect Diamanté from the description. You manged to balance not only word count, but syllable count as well. An excellent message too as you travel from a negative trait to a positive one.

Best of luck in the contest with this gem of a poem.

    Hello Friend,
Oh my goodness! I didn't catch the syllable count: that is pretty interesting! I believe the second line, though, is one syllable short. The most difficult line for me was the one with "ing" word = tricky buggers to make sense.
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review! So appreciated!

Both the picture and the title says it all my friend; the Diamante is composed quite creatively with choice words/phrases reflecting the two sides of a coin. Good luck!

I wish I could understand the opaque and convoluted galaxy of Diamante, given its complex regulations, so distant from poetry. To my eye, the above rendition is just a jumble of words with no affinity to poetry. Or do I need an attitude adjustment?

    Hmmmm...
"Just a jumble of words with no affinity to poetry?"
    Yikes!
Methinks you are a "diamante in the rough."
    Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for your reply. Please let me know who you are so I can read your other writings. Am sure you are more poetic than this jumble of words. Blessings, jppoet

I just watched "Jane" and can easily hear Goodall reciting her quote. I admired your using the Diamante shape for your reflections about "apathy" and its antonym, "compassion". Best wishes in the competition- Joan
