I think this is a good entry for the Parenthood An Indelible Memory writing prompt.
Your story of your son and his love of the military and jets is clear and well written.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

This story is very well-written! It's very touching, and it captivated me from beginning to end. Your son followed his dreams and ended up doing something amazing for his country. Great work :)

This hit home. Many a time I have responded poorly when my daughter or son reported happy news. I have apologized, but learned a hard lesson. They forgive, but never forget.
Well-organized story with the ending reverting back to the beginning.

Thank you! Lessons can sure be tough on us as parents... Apologies are usually accepted but it doesn't take away our mistakes. And, yes, my children seem to remember every single mistake I ever made. That seems to improve when they become parents, though. :) Thanks so much for the review and kind words....

Dear Anonymous Author;
Thank you for sharing your parenthood moment for the contest. I'm willing to be every one of the parents in any community has a moment such as this. I think we all do our best.

You are right to be proud of a son who served in the military and the civil service. What would we do without these brave souls, willing to give their lives for us and our freedoms?

Good luck in the contest,

~patty~

    Thank you!!
I've learned from every single mistake, but I sure wish I had never made them. Lessons learned I suppose.
I am so very proud of him. He's worked so hard to get where he is and I am so proud of the man he has become. Thank you so much for your review and kind comments. I sure do appreciate it.

Great story. I liked it. It held my interest.
I only found one mistake, if it is that. "and I so proud of the man that you have become." I don't know if it was done intentionally or not.
I find you did a great job. Your paper did move my emotions and that takes a lot.
Keep up the great work. Good luck in the contest.

I'll have to go back and take a look at that mistake... it shouldn't have read like that. Thank you!!!

This is a good story. I understand how you felt (feel). We have to support our children no matter what they decide to do.

Your story was easy to follow and I didn't seen a thing I'd change. Good luck in the contest!

Watching a son become a man is the hardest thing in the world to watch. Your story made me cry. I have been in your shoes. Of course I would not change a word of your story. That phone call was one of the most significant moments of your life. That is the kind of memory that you share. Great job.

Ahhh... thank you! Your kind words are much appreciated and brought tears to my eyes. I will never forget that phone call or forgive myself for my initial response.
Watching my sons become men has been hard on the heart. They will always be my little boys...
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. :)

I loved your story and I was a bit worried whilst reading it that it would have a tragic end, but thankfully all went well for your son. We can't help our feelings when we care for someone so much and we let them interfere with what we really want to say, but your son has lived his dream and it was in his heart from a very young age. Your story is heartfelt, honest and emotional, I really enjoyed your words, love Dolly x

Thank you so much!! Sorry for worrying you... I spent a lot of time scared to death for him. I sometimes wonder if folks realize that when someone is in the military, the entire family goes with them, in spirit. Every time he was deployed, or in a dangerous place, I swear it took years off my life. But, he knew what he wanted from a very young age and he's lived his dream. That is a blessing. Thank you!!

Hello, I think every parent would understand your opening paragraph. Who doesn't want to turn back the clock, and it's part of our sadness that we learn in hindsight. I guess it would be a heartache to think of your son being in the forces and facing the possibility of danger.

I have no suggestions for improvement. I found the story engaging and wish you luck in the contenst. Ana.

Is this a true story? I would be very frightened to have a child in the military. But, we have to let our kids live their own lives and do what makes them happy. This is a good entry for the contest. Easy to read. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

This is a true story... And having my son, and later my daughter, in the military, has been terrifying. However, I couldn't be more proud of them for the choices they have made. Thank you so much for your review and kind words. I truly appreciate you taking the time... Thank you!
