This made me smile because we was able to go out and do what she loved even if it was for a short time. I don't know why "they" wouldn't let her go out, I'd think it'd be safer if someone went with her, but I'm so glad she went out. It made me smile reading it. I work with a woman who has bad arthritis in her hands. She also enjoys gardening and her hands hurt so bad at night she can't do anything. She's cutting back on hours and got a new job at work. Who knows, maybe this will help her hands and she'll be able to do what she loves to do again.

This is a very touching story poem that effectively used the required words. I used to work with the elderly in a nursing home and so many of the emotions you mention I have witnessed. I was also in the contest but you desevered the win...congratulations.

Hello Friend,
Oh! I loved your "One winter's memory!" It was filled with so many of my own memories. Very well-crafted and delightful. It was a pleasure for me to read and review...
Thank you for your thoughtful and complimentary review of my short poem. These short ones are oftentimes more challenging to pen than longer verses!
Thank you again,

Hello Gloria,
Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful and complimentary review.
My mother loved lilacs...as do I. Hers were just as I described. Mine do not receive as much sun as they need to bloom profusely, but they surely have a lovely fragrance.
Thank you again!

Contest winner, and rightly so. I didn't remember any of the words but dipper, they fit so well. Not much to add to an excellent rating for this one.

Oh you made me cry a bit in your poem. I am pondering on the agony of getting old and the people around you, just won't allow an old mother the freedom to do the things she loved most. Ah, the pains of old age and poor health. Thanks for sharing this excellent piece.

Hi there;
Your lovely poem and story within the lines not only used the required words but took this reader into a lovely garden with a woman who loved the smell and feel of her garden.
I read the piece with baited breath in fear she wouldn't be able to complete her journey.
Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contents,
~patty~

Hello Patty!
What a wonderful and thoughtful review! In later years, my mom, did indeed, become wheelchair bound. She never stopped loving the coming of spring, however. She is never more than a thought away...
Thank you again!

Hello, Mystery Writer, :)
This is a story in a poem, and it's very impressive. It's one of the poems I may vote for -- I have four picked so far.
Good luck in the competition. I
I am so sorry about your mother. She sounded like me. :D I'm not there in age, but I am determined not to let fibromyalgia land me in a wheelchair, yet. :D

This is very poignant and moving. I can tell that you loved your mother very much. I am not a gardener and I would not be able to stand and pick flowers, but, it is nice to go outside and sit when it is not too hot or cold. Just to look at the trees and flowers and squirrels. I am glad she was able to do it this time. This is a good entry for the contest. Good luck with it. Thank you for sharing

Hello Friend,
Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful and complimentary review. I just hope, that wherever she is, there is a beautiful garden...and she is walking. That may sound maudlin, but that's my hope...
Thank you again!
