Hello, Mystery Writer, :)
This is a very funny poem. Love the lifting of the tail!!
I wish you all the luck in the competition.
Your poem is the first one I read, that didn't use 'dipper' as the constellation. :)

I could certainly relate to the scene described in your free verse poem. I live in the country and we often have to tolerate that yukky smell. You did such a good job of incorporating all the required words into your story-poem. They were nearly imperceptible in the tale, so well told. Good luck in the contest. MM

This is humorous, adorable and well composed. A fun piece. Even love of nature has its limits. I enjoyed reading this. Much luck in the contest. Marilyn

The skunk family includes 10 species of skunks found in North and South America and 2 species of stink badgers found in southeast Asia.
Skunks live in forest edges, woodlands, grasslands and deserts.
Their average lifespan in the wild is 3 years. In captivity, they may live for up to 10 years. Although they have excellent senses of smell and hearing, they have poor vision, being unable to see objects more than about 3 meters (10 feet) away.
Skunks are solitary animals when not breeding, though in the colder parts of their range, they may gather in communal dens for warmth.
They are crepuscular which means they come out mostly at dusk and dawn.
Skunks are omnivorous, eating both plants and animals and changing their diets as the seasons change. They eat insects and larvae, earthworms, grubs, rodents, lizards, salamanders, frogs, snakes, fish, birds, moles and eggs. They also commonly eat berries, roots, leaves, grasses, fungi and nuts. In settled areas, skunks also seek garbage left by humans. A friend of mine had her dog sprayed by one. We avoided the poor thing for weeks. The smell was indescribable! They are one amazing critter! A fantastic poem enjoyed tremendously love and regards Meia xx

Dear Mystery Poet,
This is a fun contest entry. I like the picture and message in combination. You got every one of the required words in there and managed to deliver a delightful poem about a pesky skunk robbing you of your fresh lilac scented air.
Best wishes in the contest. I think you did a terrific job.
Sincerely Joy xx
