This is an interesting piece. I don't think gun ownership is well regulated or else the mentally ill, terrorists, gangs and criminals wouldn't have them. However, there is a place for responsible gun ownership that doesn't infringe on anyone's preference to have or not have one. Schools should never be touted as "gun-free zones" because it leaves kids vulnerable to mentally ill people. Marilyn

Thank you for the read and the comments. I believe that gun-free for schools does not include well-trained security officers. As a retired principal and school superintendent, I do not believe teachers should carry firearms, they simply have to many other tasks to attend to.

Hi Harry. No one is demanding that teachers be armed. They would not be the best choice to do so anyway. It would take a person who is comfortable and confident in that role. And for God's sake, who is the idiot who thought to post "gun-free zone" signs? Law abiding citizens don't need it and bad guys won't heed it. Marilyn

I think you hit it correctly. I mean sure it isn't good for grown men and women to use weapons to satisfy their anger issues or to have to have them for protection, but damn it! Our children deserve better care than this! Good entry and good luck. xoxo Kiwi

though many have different opinions.
If one reads the constitution, it doesn't say one has the right to bear arms,
but the right to bear arm to form a militia.
Since we have a standing army, that would seem to be unnecessary.
The only way to change is by an amendment or the supreme court.
I think the right to life of a child super succeeds any perceived right to bear arms.

Very good, a nice entry on the contest, I personally think we have to find out why some kids are so disenchanted, guns have been part of this country since the beginning and never had this sort of trouble. Good luck on this and have a great day.

Thanks for you read. In my opinion, the kids are not disenchanted, they are afraid and angry that adult politicians have done nothing in the face of these slaughters to protect them from automatic weapons.
