My goodness, what a scary event. I don't know if I could stay calm under such a frightening situation. They survived, but now they have to figure out how and why they attacked. I agree with Anderson, it is best to keep Shana out of this. I would have been hiding under the bed, even knowing if they had succeeded, that would be the first place they would have looked. I anxiously look forward to the next post. You did a great job with the action in this one. I found no errors or things that needed clarifying.

Enjoyed the post and due to the number of people I review I', out of sixes so a virtual six. Liked how you gradually increased the danger. You could cut the tension with a knife. The last line was an excellent hook. Well done.

That was a shock. THey didn't wait long to come for Shana. Fortunately Drew had enough men to overpower them. But what happened to the others who were four minutes away? Did the Russians get them?

Barbara, tears pooled in my eyes as I read this, but not for reasons that you think. The recent school shooting in Florida has left me raw and hypersensitive to the point where I see everything from that prism. The first thought that jumped out at me as I read this was "I wish our children got the level of security Shana received."
Usually I would cheer and celebrate the action and gun shooting, but the story here hit too close to home. When I read, "Surly they wouldn't attack here. There are innocent people living in this building," I felt that sentiment could apply to many places in America. As reality and the Russians in your novel prove, there are people who will attack no matter how many innocents are present. Anderson's thoughts echo those of many Americans at this juncture: "I should've added more security."
I had a flashback and felt I was in that school when I read, "He tilted his head at the cadence of brat tat, brat tat, brat tat. An assault weapon, probably Russian." I saw children being hit.
This is less a review than a raw, visceral response in which a grim reality intrudes upon romantic fiction. Your writing is as polished as ever, but what stands out is your closing line which reflects the zeitgeist of this moment: "I'm so sorry."

It's kind of hard to know where the enemy is in the dark. The addition of an automatic weapon could kill friend and enemy. This is very well written with a tense flow of words.

I see you've done some home work on your guns. I have a number of Sig Sauer models, including a P238 and the P938 which is made on the same micro frame. Plenty of stopping power in a easily hidden compact. Only problem for self protection is they only hold 7 bullets, or 8 with one in the chamber. Anderson needs something that uses a magazine that holds like 15. Maybe like a Barretta MP9. LOL! Who cares, I'm just teasing you. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter. :-)

I know nothing about guns. I just did research and the sites told me it's a preferred gun for law enforcements. When I research, I go to numerous sites so I just don't get one opinion. I think my husband told me as a CID agent the Army issued Sig Sauer. I appreciate your review.

Anderson and his team went into action quickly and he got Shana to safety. She has really had her share of frightening experiences. I love the way you handled this Line: "A shadow moved. Anderson shot. The shadow fell." Great! Very intense, and Anderson is really challenged to stay on top of this situation. judi
