Without the guidance from above we are walking blind. We need to walk by faith and not by sight. Otherwise we end up building a life based on sand that shifts with the wind and rain. Well written words of wisdom.

lovely wisdom
it is a glorious time when we shed our heart and life of the coat with which we disguise our true selves
when we lay our heart and soul bare to the Lord that is when He molds us into His little miracles
blessings

A fine poem of faith that reminded me of Jesus parable about those who build their houses on sand. You write:
unless one builds foundations strong,
those walls will fall when life goes wrong.
Indeed. "time will wear -- reveal soul's core."
Your closing lines about fixing your gaze on God to lead you through life's maze reminds me of the Apostle Paul who wrote in Philippians 3:14:
"I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
I thank you very much for spreading the Word through your poems of faith. They are much needed right now.

Comment from Gloria ....
Helen Keller was a most amazing woman, but I'm thinking even just as much were the miracle workers around her. I can't imagine how she learned complex ideology. That is what your post is referring to.
Great job friend, Roy. Always a pleasure to read your work. :)

Roy,
You did a great job with your well-chosen words & rhymes. Your lines flow well & have a great message. I really like the comparisons you made in your poem. I believe you are right. Without a strong foundation in anything, it will not last. A strong foundation which one's faith is built on will stand up to the temptations. Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

This is a beautiful poem about the passage of time and the journey of life.
When things don't go well, this is a good scripture to remember:
"A man's heart plans his course, but God directs his steps."

I always look forward to your posts and I am never disappointed. I love the vivid imagery of this and the excellent rhythm and rhyme. I think we all can relate to wearing a coat to hide our shame. Fortunately, many no longer need to hide. Great work with this and thanks for giving me more to think about.

What a wonderful way to say it, Roy. When we were younger, we definitely put a lot more effort to wearing 'coats' that covered with pretensions but faith in God and His firm foundation make it possible for us to live freely.

John Milton and Helen Keller, light denied, made their way to recognition. An excellent poem, Roy. Sometimes the sun hits my cataract and I blink a lot...

I was meant to come upon this one. It is written so well. It could be my story too. I wore a coat to hide the shame for many years when I was a teenager. Also, Helen Keller is a great inspiration to me. What a wonderful quote by her. So true. Your poem was excellent. Thank you for sharing. God Bless! No more shame. Stay true to you. Last line is right on! - Cathy
