Your unique title and graphic artwork caught my attention. Your words pay tribute to a special someone who died too young--my condolences if you were not taking on a vivid persona. I also admired your use of the alliteration of "f"s" to intensify the mood of this 5-7-5. Well done- Joan

The dates are those on my wife's headstone. She died too young. I didn't mean to write a tearjerker, but the sadness is always close by. The art is pure fabrication by me on micrografx. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

Wow! With such simple words you created a powerful image! I know how blaring a fake flower is in winter and that really describes how the pain of a false love might be in the heart of the one suffering.

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing my five/seven/five about upcoming almost holiday. At least Valentines Day doesn't trigger depression in as many folks as Christmas does.

Oh, what a brilliant little poem, your 5-7-5 - so sad! I am assuming (again, even after having been taught by police when I worked for them in the late 70's, to NEVER assume) that the "false red flower" is a poppy...

Wonderful tribute - I hope it wins!!!

The artwork is a red flower shape from my decrepit mind. The one red flower I put on my wife's grave was a plastic pseudo amaryllis back at Xmas time. I meant for a matter-of-fact sound, but reviewers say it came out sad. That's fine, at least it says something. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

Oh, that was very sad. So lies my Valentine also. Much said in few words here but I am sure many can identify. If a true story, my condolences.

The dates are true. We had forty good years, but never got to grow old together. I think she would have been young in heart and head at a hundred anyway. I meant to sound more matter of fact, but I'll take sad. At least it said something! Thanks for reading and reviewing.

This little poem sucks the happiness out of the room. It's sobering to think of a valentine being gone. I guess it would sound right to my mom and to my mother-in-law who are both widows. Not everybody celebrates the day of love with happiness. So sad.

Well done Red.

Sincerely Joy xx

I didn't mean to create a tearjerker, but if I did, I like it. There's enough truth to support a sad feeling. The wife died way too young. And left me her mean, gripy, arrogant little old Chihuahua that I write so much about. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

Powerful imagery.

This reflects a deep personal a loss that at a time when people are celebrating their relationship, the loss of a loved one is sorely remembered.

Excellent poem.

This came out a lot sadder than I was trying for, but if the message is strong, I'll stand by it. The wife died young. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

A very well-written 5-7-5 Valentine's poem. A Valentine is anyone who gives you a flower or who you want to give a flower to. A great piece of artwork to complenent your poem.

The tradition always puzzled me--if you give someone a card or gift, it's a valentine. If they respond in kind then you two are each other's valentines? No matter. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

When you think about it, that's a beautiful valentine. The one lovely flower in all the dead grass.

Love the title. This is a lovely 5-7-5.

We need to sow Ballew Memorial with something that stays green year 'round. And I lied, it was Xmas when I put the plastic amaryllis-looking thing on the wife's grave. Poetic license. This came out sadder than I meant, but any strong message in my
work pleases me.(well, maybe not "Hey this jerk is a gibbering idiot.") Thanks for reading and reviewing.

The dates are true. The loss is old, and yes, the wife died young. But we spent over forty good years together. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

This is also a tear jerker. It made me wonder if it is the dates on a stone of someone personally close. Or is it tongue in cheek? It is quite affecting. My condolences. Some of the bawdy ones would be apt as well.

That's the wife's marker dates. At seventy three, I am not romantically inclined, though I have adapted to living alone. I think it comes across more tearjerky than I actually intended. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing. Oh, I drew the art on micrografx software. I like tinkering with drawing programs...
