An awesome and unique poem... the picture drew me, and the words supported the image in substance and style.. thank you so much for including the commentary below "...I am fascinated by the scientific study of chaos. The theory indicates a disturbance as light as a butterfly's wing flapping could initiate the chaos of a hurricane. Now that my friend, is HEAVY! Thanks for sharing..

You are very welcome. My interest began when I was taking an Economic Geography course in 1980. To get into it required more math than I wanted to tackle. Right after, the Biology guys started their Biomass studies. It was eye opening.

Chaps theory...a mouse with diarrhea in China might topple dominoes until the Dow crashes...interesting. Also interesting that this five-seven-five contest is called a three line poem contest. Excellent entry.

Excellent comment. Thank you for that and the stars.

Thanks for the interesting notes! That clarifies the reference to butterfly in the last line. Excellent use of rhyming in the first two lines. The last line acts like a satori as well! I enjoyed reading it. Good luck!

Great visual, very nice, this and the poem are very busy, just like the Gods at play. People on the knees praying. Butterfly wings flapping and fluttering, causing confusion. Good Luck and Best Wishes in the Contest! Sherman541

Hello, I liked this entry for the 3 line poetry contest. It is very thoughtful, and it made me think about our connection, to one another, to God, and the natural world. Your author notes are good, too. I saw no errors, and you've chosen a cool piece to accompany your writing.
Thanks and this is a work I found a pleasure to read and review, Ana.

Thank you very much. I like it more as a 5 7 5 than a haiku. When written as a haiku, it seemed less dramatic.

This is a good entry for the contest. Until I read your notes, I did not get the reference to butterfly. I find it amazing that an atom being split can kill everyone ten times over. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Thank you very much. Yes only narrow pointed minds, that fit the dunce cap, get the comparison. You have to know a little about the gods of mythology and a little about chaos. Those two don't add up to one in the reality we have now. Oh, I forgot to add BioMass research into it. BioMass research and Chaos theory are better than rocket science, because they deal with the here and now. European weather forecasting, Hurricane warnings paths/intensity, is way better than the US version. BioMass application is strategically effective. It is hard to put it to practical use because of politics, and persuading people to change methods of farming. I'm sorry, this is more than you want to know.

Not bad Henry. You're a swords and sorcery fan huh? Went today to the library and took out Conan the King and The Chronicles of Conan. I've read Conan since I was 14 years of age that was in 64. I'm a little bit older now but I still like the chaos he makes. Good poem. This is a good entry for the 3 Line Poetry Contest. Write about the mythological gods in poetry form or story. I'll be the first to read it.

Thank you for reading and your comments. Bullfinch's Mythology was a good reference. I think one of my grandkids snatched mine. Google is a good a source.

Well done. I am not sure why no pic chosen, but this one really does stand alone without one, in my opinion. Anytime man is on his knees to pray, we should not need visuals! I like it. Creative in such a short format. Good luck.

Wendy, Thank you for your comments. My instincts tell me to write so that the words are descriptive enough where a reader can envision what I have written. I was taught that in High School, more than sixty years ago. About six or seven months ago, I submitted a poem, Canyon Echoes, to a publisher. The poem was readily accepted, but the editor wanted a picture. I took one of the box canyon where the events transpired. The editor responded, The poem is more descriptive than your picture of the box canyon.

That's the chaos. I am glad you liked it.

The mythological gods had several aspects, those aspects either despised, loved or was indifferent to humans. A human never knew which aspect was prevalent. Therefore chaos. I enjoyed reading about the scientific studies of chaos, like weather and storm. Scientists believe most chaotic storms can begin with as little a push, somewhere in the world, as the flap of a butterfly's wing. Therefore my relationship.
-
Thank you Henry King for sharing your research about the scientific studies of chaos which makes an interesting subject to write about

There is an off shoot of Chaos Theory. It's Bio Mass research. It's pretty far out.

I most definitely did. Years ago I thought about entering into that research field. It required that I go back and complete several years of math. No thanks. It still fascinates me.
