A very well written story full of emotional energy. I simply can't imagine how life had been in those days. But you capture the spirit of love and together that was the rule of the day back then. The so-called elbow society had not arrived yet, and people were more human than today.
You put all the above beautifully across in your stoy. The dialogue rings true and flows smoothly.

Thank you for your kind remarks. Even though this is fiction, much of it comes directly from my parents and grandparents. I actually wrote it for my grandkids because they do need to know how we lived.

From other accounts and old photos, the horrors of the dustbowl were much as you describe them. I still see a need to count commas and question marks-some are missing. My mom was a depression era kid who could drive a steer to the grist mill when she was seven...excellent prose.
