I think it's still early for spring. We'll get little tastes of it, like we did today, but that doesn't mean it's hear yet. It's only January. It can snow all the way into April. But I do hope it's getting close

These works out as a kind of inverse haiku, with the short middle line. But the balance is still there, and I kind of liked this. The nature image is perfect, and the epiphany moment is there; the song of the robin gives one hope that life will conquer winter...again. Even here in the Carolinas where winter seems like a shadow of its northern counterpart, i'm getting tired of winter. And that cold snap the first week of January got my verbenas. But the Irises are coming, the peaches are coming; the colors of spring can't be far off. estory

Nice and simple...nothing too elaborate It has exactly what it needs. Like a breath of cool breathe it sings of the values connected to the time, in only a few words.

Winter's frigid hold (maybe small 'w', and since you used : maybe a comma and a period, too) I don't know if this helps, though.

This perfectly shaped lune reminds us that spring is just around the corner. I have a garden full of robins or is it one very busy one patrolling his territory? Ours are notas colourful as yours with a browner back and without the yellow bill.

Very positive image to add warmth to a cold winter's day. I learned in college that the reason the robin is the "first bird of spring" is that it doesn't migrate, but instead it actually stays in the north and hibernates. Since it doesn't have to travel back home, it's the first to appear when spring's warmth comes around.

Your words remind me of seeing the first robin every spring, they do signal the arrival of warmer weather. "Winter's frigid hold" is a fitting last line, winter does have a frigid hold on us this year.
