My wife is from a culture where it is acceptable to criticize "because it's true." That makes for some uncomfortable family gatherings. I think I'll have her read your poem because it so eloquently paints a picture of forgiveness through contrasting images. I loved the "verbal silk" versus the "goads in lace."

Hi Roy,
this is a very nice poem and so gracefully written. All to often we speak in anger or malice. There is no rewind button, once said it is out there. We should all learn to speak to others as we wish to be spoken to. I try to do that but sometimes it is hard.
I loved this poem.

True, Roy.
Words verbalized, spoken in anger, malice or without forethought, are not like the words we type out on the keyboards of our computers. There's no "DELETE" button to erase what we've said.
Once they're out there, that's it, that's all she wrote, no pun intended.
So, be very careful what you say before you say it.
You'll be glad ya did.

Really, really nice, and, of course, all very true.

I particularly line the final line of stanza one, both in message and imagery. An excellent use of words.

The only (tiny) suggestion, is that I think you're missing a period, at the end of stanza three.
