Faith comes in great at scary moments like a sudden door knock when we are not expecting company. Well thought out and clearly written. Strong visual imagery. Nice work.

Dear sunnilicious, Thank you for your review of my piece "Faith". It was written for a contest. At the time my Muse had departed for part unknown with a mammoth huff (Goodness knows why), so I was trying to fly alone as it were, with little inspiration.
The picture of the little girl reminded me of a child who used to play at our place with my two sons ( and half the neighborhood children)I saw the picture and the words came afterwards. cheers Cass

This is so true--faith knocks off fear. Turning things over to our Higher Power insures that we have comfort and peace. It's out of our hands. Nicely composed message of faith. Marilyn

Dear Marilyn, thank you for your review and the five stars, It was a short piece as my Muse still isn't particularly co-operative, but we're working on it. Il want to put out longer prose works, but she isn't especially keen. She is used to the quick result from a poem or a short piece and still needs reassuring that the effect will be so much more so. Cheers Girl, nice to see you are back amongst us again. Take it steady and don't rush things. All the best Cass

Wow! So amazingly done with just these short lines. It's our minds that can easily create fearful scenarios but if we truly have faith and believe, we can see through eyes of faith the fearful circumstances for what they are.

Dear Lyenochka, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Yes, it is true what you say.Often the things we fear most are simply of our own making. Facing them sends them away in a puff of smoke. Cheers Cass

This spiritual 5-7-5, Faith, answers the question, Who should see who's at the door? Send Faith. This lets us know that there isn't much to fear with God on your side.

I love your presentation with the little girl in focus. Whilst loving the presentation, I knew of the saying.
It has even been changed around by some to incorporate Jesus and Satan using the same format.

It's an old English proverb with many thoughts of origin. The one that has strength in depth is;

a sign posted above the door of an Inn. White cliffs of Dover)In 1940 the Nazis were intending to invade or cross the English channel and Winston Churchill (prime minister) called on the nation to pray. A thick fog arrived on that day preventing the crossing.

I think as a competition, as these words have been written before, it would not be fair to win the competition, but what I think you could have done is built on it a bit, build it out to longer and bring your own take to it.

I never like to see words repeated when written before, but as I do not think winning is the end all, and I feel you presented this in Honesty, I am not going to mark this down. Two, I really don't mark down, just advise, but think in the future, if something written or heard, even a proverb...change it to suit your angle.

Here is something written by Gary Jones in 2007 using only half of the proverb that shows how one can build.

2007-09-29 by Gary Jones

Fear knocked at my door, I answered with temptation,
I screamed for forgiveness, but all was for damnation.

Love knocked at my door, I answered with respect,
I dreamed of untold pleasures, I had none to collect.

Envy knocked at my door, I answered with compassion,
I thought of those other kids, who had the latest fashion.

Hope knocked on my door, I answered with contempt,
I wondered why always, I looked for all and wept.

My best wishes.

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Thank you also for your words of wisdom and correction. I concur with all you have written and own myself somewhat shame faced. Plagiarism is an unforgivable sin in my writer's mind and to realise I have committed it is chastening indeed. Never mind, a word to the wise never goes amiss. Thank you again for your review and the time you took to write this thoughtful admonition. It will not be brushed aside, but remembered always. Yours truly Cass Carlton

My pleasure author, you are an honest author, and sometimes a saying comes to mind and sticks and with the image and your sense of expression has me in no doubt this was genuinely meant, so if something is so strong in mind, build it out so you have own take and that will suffice. keep writing...keep the spirit. Your next write will be all the better for it.

    My best wishes.

Dear Linda, thank you for your review and the five stars. The artwork is rather special. The little girl resembles a child who played at our house when my boys were small. She was a sweet, generous child who had a smile for everyone. Looking at the picture was like seeing her again. Your words about the poem are so true my dear friend. You have captured the sense of what I wanted to say perfectly We do come from the same box of God's Chillun' don't we? cheers Cass

Your use of words shows the power of faith. Excellent use of words, the reader can feel the fear and then the fear dissolves once the door is opened. I wish you well in the contest.

Dear Mermaids, thank you for your review and the five stars. This is a very brief poem on a big subject, but it says all I needed to say. It seems that many readers relate to its brevity and also the artwork showing a child at prayer. thanks again cheers Cass

Your inspiration did a great job on this one. Simply put with a strong message. I like the artwork you chose to reiterate the topic of faith in your words. It was a very nice poem.

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars. It is a very short piece, but says all I wanted to say. The artwork is of a child who resembles one I once knew when my children were small. She was sweet and gentle and wore a bonnet very like the one in the picture. Her name was Edith, but her Grandmother's name was Loretta Faith. cheers Cass

Oh my, we are on the same boat, when my muse is not working hard, I resort to 5/7/5 to squeeze the creative juice. I enjoyed reading your excellent piece and the picture is so heavenly which complements well your message to the readers. All the best.

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars. You're so right. The Muse has only just returned to the fold and wasn't disposed to give me a lot on this occasion. She sat on the edge of the desk (eating a peach) and just gave me these few words before strolling off for a bubble bath. Small mercies my dear, very small indeed, but at least she is back with me again. cheers Cass
