How fascinating to learn of the opposite gender discrimination impression. I wonder why Tom even signed up if he thought he wouldn't get a job after completing all the studies. I'm sure Mrs. Armstrong will set him straight!

Hi Aryr, another good chapter to your story. It sounds like Tom was really putting himself in the box or believing he couldn't be of any help. I'm sure you got him on the right track.

Poor Tom, you are so right Mel, he is so confused about life, how he has been treated and what he really wants to do. Time will tell, thanks so much my friend.

A gender role complex. Do youngsters still have that? I thought that was something only those born in the mid nineteen hundreds, like I was, had. I imaging Tom got it from his own parents. Doctors are fellers and nurses are girls. It is still there actually as we talk about nurses and male nurses. The first still has shades of that female fixation. I wonder how Mrs A will cope with this one.

MMM Now I do hope you recall that it was said that Mrs A called it a gender role complex. I do agree with you that there still tends to be the theory of doctors are male and nurses are female but it is slowly changing, thank goodness. Thanks for reading.

I don't know if Tom is right. Today I see male nurses all the time, in doctors' offices as well as in hospitals. Discrimination has historically gone toward women BY men, and not the opposite way. Will be interesting to see how you handled this.
Good job. Your writing is clear and easy to understand, which could be hard to do on a technical topic.
