Sweet chocolate is poetry --
fine Chardonnay is prose.
Two beautiful lines there. I enjoyed the whole piece. Well done I hate the taste of alcohol myself but a nice hot chocolate with whipped cream...mmmm....haven't had that in a long time. Well done this is fab love Meia xx

I'll be right over, Janet! Two of my absolute favourites. I'm glad you decided to write this poem, it's a lovely one, with very appetising words, lol. Do you think it would be too early to have this for breakfast? Wonderful rhyme and rhythm, and a pleasure to read, :) Sandra

It definitely is not too early to have this for breakfast. I always say, "it's 5 o'clock somewhere". haha

I saw the title that tickled my taste buds and I was not disappointed when I read your lovely poem, I could taste the sweet chocolate as the Chardonnay slid down with much too much ease, perfect, love Dolly x

"Chocolate and Chardonnay" is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Mmmmmmm - I love a good white wine, but please, milk chocolate for me, and later, after I nibble on some cheese delicacies with my wine as I read...
Your poem is as scrumptious as the feast I am imagining!

Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I really like milk chocolate too but I try to eat the dark as it is healthier (of so they say) I'm eating milk chocolate as we speak. haha

LOL. I just ate buttercream icing - oh, yeah - with a little cake, too. :)))
(You're very welcome - it was my pleasure.)

Chocolate and chardonnay--lovely consonance in those two words and you use them well. It is a light-hearted poem, and it shares with everyone what you value. Good use of rhyme and form, it looks neat and well managed, easy to read.

My first choice would be "champagne and strawberries", but after reading your poem, chocolate and Chardonnay with fire and friends works for me. This a very pleasant read. I wish you well.

Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging review. Awe - "champagne and strawberries". Now you're taking. I think I like your idea better but it's harder to rhyme. haha

Good Evening, Janet!
So you've snow in Asheville! We're freezing here, but no snow and ice. I'm glad you took the weather as a reason to write this beautiful poem.
Your quatrains and end rhymes are in fine form. The rhymes are strong and effective. The theme of the poem is well developed. Great visuals and sensory feel. You'e made me want to uncork a bottle of red, but I've to wait until that Elly May biscuit I made settles down.
The iambics are strong and flowing throughout the read of the poem.
A superb poem, Janet.

Thank you Ray for this glowing review with the extra special sixth stars.
I really prefer a nice Merlot or a Shiraz but they were hard to find rhymes for and the meter was just not right - haha
You always give me such encouragement to keep writing whether rhyme and meter or my new found JSF. I greatly appreciate you.
We still have a little snow here but mostly it is just bitter cold today and will continue this week.
Thank you again.
Hugs
