I like poems that are a little off the beaten path; this is not the usual choice. It was a well-written, fun read that kept the reader guessing. Besides the one flaw mentioned, a flame can cause a burn.
Well done.
Best wishes.

What a delightful sonnet, (?) describing the candle, what good they can be, and how they can protect us from hurting ourselves.Your rhyming words were very well chosen and certainly fit your theme...This was pleasant read, thanks for sharing...All the best!

I love this piece. Very well written. I enjoy the rhyming and imagery. I only wish that there was another set of two lines at the end (for balance). But overall, you did a great job!

Hello, Joan,
I like your poem about a candle. I knew the subject right away because you use such clear imagery with your well chosen words. Well done! Great entry for the Potlatch challenge.

The author's words are engaging, interesting, true, descriptive and
creative. I pondered on these words as they all made perfect sense.
I loved the last stanza which made me smile and is so true. The poem
flows and connects well. Great poem!

I happen to be a candle freak. My husband, not so much, but a few years ago we actually had a blizzard in Texas and the power grid went down, sort of, we had electricity, but not much. My candles came in handy. Thank you for sharing and I enjoyed reading.

A Light in the Dark is a well-rhymed ode to the ordinary but functional candle that lists its many merits and points out one sore point. There is one major flaw with the candle. Like a psychotic lover, if you leave them, they might burn down your house.
