Bravo. No apologies needed for this great observation. Falling in love is so easy. The rest of it is work, work, work. Much luck in the contest with this amusing and well written entry. Marilyn

This is witty and satirical. Ironic and funny. My guru used to say: "First there is the engagement ring, then the wedding ring, and then....suffering!"

My only suggestion is to use punctuation to show the shift from the firs half to the second half of the poem. Some optional ideas:

Heaven

is finding the person of your dreams;

keeping them is

Hell

or

Heaven

is finding the person of your dreams...

keeping them is

Hell

or

Heaven

is finding the person of your dreams.

Keeping them is

Hell...

Or if you prefer not using pucntuation, formatting could give the pause:

Heaven
is finding the person of your dreams

keeping them is
Hell

or

Heaven

is finding the person of your dreams

keeping them is

Hell

This it spot on and one of the most amusing responses to the antonym contest I've read. Should do well, I imagine! Good luck. Almost a six (*but I have none left)

Warmly, rd

    Hi RD,

I actually had your first alternative version (with the semi-colon) when I posted, but I removed it. I think I like the ellipses version best, so I'll go with that. Sadly, I can't give you another review vote this month - but I would if they'd let me, it's certainly deserved!

    Many thanks,
    Craig

P.S. I like your guru's sense of humour!

Aw, thanks for your gracious response and the thumb-thought! My guru is the funniest! She gets people laughing a lot.

Glad you like the ellipses, as that's the one I like best too!

Never get bent out of shape, this is so true and a great antonym for the contest entry. It is hell because you have to put every day into it

Hi, Craig;
This is cute. Great use of antonyms and I think even married people can agree, 'sometimes' marriage is hell - no matter how much you love the other person.
Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest,
~patty~

LOL!!! This is funny, and I can appreciate where it's coming from. I'm happily married and coming up to our 35th wedding anniversary. However, I know there are loads of folks out there that have trouble finding the perfect match. Relationships are hard.

This is a terrific contest entry, and I thank you for making me laugh out loud.

Joy xx

A very well-written Antonym poem. Our partners become like a heavenly dream comes true. To please them all the time can become hell, when they turn out to be a different person than you fought.

Don't see why anyone would be upset - there's a lot of truth in the words. So many people charge into marriage without any real idea of what it will be like 1, 7, 17 years down the track. Maybe not Hell, but a lot of hard work required!

Good luck.

Steve

Ouch! Spoken like someone who made the wrong choice. I'm glad that this is not true. I would hate the thought of being tied to someone that didn't fulfill you.

The "til death do us part" thing is a bit yesterday... and I've heard the police take a dim view of it. Thanks for reading :) Craig
