"Jack would patiently wait untilJack Charlie was ready to go home, and then would lead him back." ... Hey, Yvonne. Great story. I believe one of the names in this sentence was supposed to be Charlie.
It's truly amazing how animals care for one another, isn't it?
Even outside their own species.
If only man were as kind.
Excellent writing.

I corrected the mistakes. Thank you. Yes, animals are so much nicer than most people.

I kind of think so too.
You're welcome.

Yes, "We could learn a lot from Jack the goat." This heartwarming true story of a goat's apparently selfless devotion to helping his aging horse friend with failing vision to find his preferred food pasture for sixteen years is a lesson in choosing a worthy cause and being unwavering in supporting it. Both adults and children can be inspired by this unusual friendship. Well done, and aptly illustrated with a picture of the actual horse and goat.

Thank you for a lovely review. It's amazing what animals do. There was absolutely nothing in it for the goat except helping his friend. That's wonderful.

You are welcome, Yvonne. Yes, and that kind of behavior gives a good boost to the notion that animals have souls too. -- Mike

What an uplifting, touching story. Thanks for sharing it. We could all use more examples of how to care for others to give meaning to our own lives! :)

Yes, we could. I heard a story about a blind man. He had two friends that walked to lunch with him every Saturday. One day they stopped coming. The blind man called and asked if he had offended one of them. He was told no, we just got tired of walking slow.

That's awful. Humans should be like animals. Thanks for reviewing.

I don't know how old horses live to be, but Charlie was a lucky and long-lived horse compared to most I remember. There was one mule too mean to die who lived from the time I was a toddler until I came home from the Navy...I should think this is an excellent entry for the animal crackers.

Hi Yvonne, oh, this makes me so sad! This is not the first time I've heard of horses and goats becoming friends. Although, it was either Seabiscuit or Secretariat, who tossed a goat out of his stall that was put there to keep him company.

Yayyy! Good for you. So happy to see you hear again.

I like your story, well told except for on little issue. The horse in your story would be 56 years of age at passing, the average life span of a horse is 25-30 years. The oldest record of a living horse is 51.
Otherwise, well written and well done.
