Ah yes, the Drive-in Movie Theaters of yester year. I remember them well. Of course by the time I went to my first, I was already an adult and married with children, so I did not even get the chance to make out. "Come on babe, not in front of the children." LOL. So yeah, you guessed it, I sent them to the playground, but still did not get lucky because one of them always came back to the car to complain about the other one. (heavy sigh.)

Ha! I am glad, nomi338, that my poem brought back memories of you sending the children to the playground in front of the screen so you could make out in the car. Alas, this scheme backfired when a kid returned. Thank you for your review.

We have a drive in called The Starlite that's still in operation, Andre.
It's only about 30 minutes from my home as the crow flies.
Starlite Drive-In
I saw "IT" there this past summer, along with a few other first-run films.
Good times, good poem...

Yes, Dean, good times. I was saddened to learn that the drive-ins of my youth have been demolished but gladdened to learn that some still exist 30 minutes from my home today. I should visit one. Thank you for your animated review.

Your welcome, Andre, and you should visit one.
It's probably warm enough there.
Not here, however! It is 22 degrees.
Take care,
~Dean

Hey Sis cat!
This captures a moment and a scene with fine descriptiveness and a sense of the relationship laced between the racing lines. Excellent phonetics, too, with all the S (and soft c) sounds and L &T as well
I felt like the mood of a child, reading this.
Warmly, rd

Oh, thank you, Rama, for your detailed review. I was unaware of the phonetics I used. Now, back to Rumi!
-
Yay Rumi!
:-))))

I read a chapter of the Rumi translations each morning, and may read a chapter before bedtime. I am amazed by his depth, passion, and creativity.
-
Yes! He is astounding! :-))))) Yay! So glad to hear you're digging him!

Cool poem, Andre.
Drive-ins are a purely American thing, but believe it or not, a brand new one was opened in Madrid some months ago. I still haven't gone, but I'd love to.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Maria, I was saddened to learn that the drive-ins of my youth have been torn torn but there are still drive-ins not far from where I live today. I should go to one! Thank you for your review.

This poem, Drive-in Intermission, captures those bygone and possibly never-to-return times when the terrible movie could be saved by the joyous run at th drive-in playground. Good memories.

Oh, yes, Bill, bygone days! I was saddened to see a photo of the demolition of the drive-in of my youth but gladdened to learn that several still exist where I live now. I should go to one. Thank you for your review.

I liked it but,I wanted more.I really enjoyed drive ins growing up. You hit the basic premise of it and I thank you for that. This makes all of our family adventures come to light again.

A vety well-written poem and a walk through memory lane. I grew up with going to the Drive-Inn on Saturday evenings. My first boyfriend and I went to the Drive-Inn most of the time for a date. When TV arrived here in 1976 the Drivr-inns closed one after the other. There might be still a few in the big cities, but they totally disappeared from the smaller towns.

Yes, Sandra, when I saw a 1996 photo of the drive-in of my youth being demolished, I was moved to tears, but I gladdened to learn that several still exist near where I live now. Thank you for your review.

I remember doing the very same thing with my brother....
I like your poem... Don't see any reason why you should change anything...
Well Done as far as I'm concerned!

Wow, Wetbelly01, I am glad my poem brought back memories. I thought my brother and I were the only ones who ran to the swing at intermission. Thank you for your review and confirming my memories.
