A walk down memory lane. I remember the swings under the big screen that we played on 'til the movie started. Running over the 'dunes' or the raises in the cement for the front of the cars to lean on and the talking boxes lined in a row.

Yes, yes, yes, Barb, a walk, or in this case, a run down memory lane. Thank you for your cheerful review.

"Groves of talking metal trees,"-what a beautiful line. Andre my friend, I enjoyed reading your nostalgic verse that took me back to my college life, thank you.

Oh, thank you, ameen786. for your review. Two things stun me about this poem:

1.) I wrote it about twenty-five years ago when drive-ins still existed everywhere. When I leafed through a binder of old poems I wrote decades before FanStory, this particular poem felt fresh and the loss of drive-ins painful.

2.) I am humbled that many fine reviewers such as you share your own nostalgic memories of drive-ins.

    Thank again.

Merry Christmas, Andre';
-Yes, they are still around and in fact I was talking to Dean Cook the other day just about drive-in theaters.
-I really like your composition is very subtle yet still strong and persuasively and aesthetically powerful in its enjambment which brings across the conceptual theme quite well.
-The picture of the composition is smoothly integrated well and with the words.
-Thank you for sharing Andre and take care and have a good one and may you have a very happy new year.

Oh, thank you, Alex, for your review. It cheers me. I was feeling sad when I looked at a 1996 picture of my childhood drive-in being demolished but I brightened to learn that others still exist not far from where I live today. Thanks again.

Yes, this works beautiful, Sis. I very much enjoy your creative language in drawing us into the garden of the silver screen, a reality illuminating in the great outdoors with metal trees and a world apart.

Super job with this very vivid and well written poem.

Hi Andre, this is a wonderful little poem about drive in cinemas. I've never been to one. It's never been very common in Europe, but I know they were very popular in The States. Your poem really brought it all alive. All the best, Ulla:)))

I remember backing the pick up truck into a slot in order to place the lawn chairs in a good position to watch the movie. Thanks for the memories.

Your words bring back memories of my childhood. Every summer my parents and I went to drive in movies. There is a light feel and flow to your words that makes the reader feel happy.

Hi, Sis Cat. Wishing you a wonderful New Year. I remember the drive-in movies. They were such a great place to take the children. The drive-in we went to had a playground close to the screen. Teenagers also made the scene at the drive in, thoughts on anything but the movie. There is talk of a new drive-in coming to the city where I live, one in the very spot where a drive-in used to thrive. There also remnants of the old screen. Love the imagery and mood of your poem. "Groves of talking metal trees" is a great line. judi

Oh, thank you, Judi, for your cheerful, nostalgic review. It and my poem brought back many fond memories of the drive-ins of my youth. Some of the last ones in my area are thirty minutes away. I should visit one! Thanks.

You're very welcome. The cost of having digital movies rather than the reels, is also making it difficult for drive-ins as well as local movie theaters to make a go of it. Thanks for the memory! judi
