You deserve a standing ovation for this brilliant piece of poetry. A message of unity among whole of the mankind, so effectively conveyed and that too in such wonderful lyrics.

Though I generally start gagging when people talk about being "politically correct" I will ignore the author notes and say that I love your lyrics. Didn't see anything that needed to be changed, though I would have enjoyed the read more without the "preachy" author notes.

I love the diversity your poem/song encourages.

It is a wonderful sentiment to share with others during this Holiday season. What a wonderful image of people sharing each other's celebrations and being happy for each other.

To sing each other's songs would be a harmony this world needs about now.

Take care, my friend,
Rhonda

Wow, I would love to hear these lyrics to music, especially with orchestra music. It seems to be an upbeat song given the lyrics and the subject.

I like the repetition of the word "holiday." The verse works so well for this poem.

Good luck in the contest. Happy New Year!

First, your notes - sue me too. *smile*

I love it! Spiritually uplifting one another, no matter the doctrine, is what's important, in my opinion, and your wonderful song lyrics express it beautifully, and with great cheer. Best of luck!

You have a strong musical feel and flow to your words. There is a strong steady beat and rhythm in your poem. I love the line "apart we fall". It adds strength to your song.

I would like to hear a tune that this poem is made for...It would be a happy joyous time when sung. I have trouble with lyrics if I cannot hear the tune. But this is very good.

Author I very much enjoy the continents presented as all different colours. It's very pretty and symbolic of the diversity and mosaic of cultures and beliefs.

The chorus most aptly illustrates that most sage phrase, the woods would be awfully quiet if only the best birds sang, although I do take umbrage to the word "best" as it is again a subjective judgement.

Excellent imagery in the bridge and I guess that is the purpose of a bridge to provide the overarching pathway.

I can hear this in my imagination something akin to we are the world.

Fantastic lyric and I wish you the best in the contest.

Hi there, Ange. The contest is over, so I can reveal myself. (it could be worse) You truly understand my intent and that is sooooo appreciated. A few took this as a slam against "Merry Christmas" and that's not the case at all. It's as you perceive it and probably put it even better than I. Yes, the bridge had elements of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa within, so a "We Are the World" feel is exactly what I had in mind. I'm thinking I could add to it, no doubt.

Anyway, you made my day when I read this. I'm horribly lax and behind, but I recalled this and wanted to make sure I didn't forget to thank you. :))

Dear Mystery Writer,

I am not sure why some people (not saying you) think that those of us who prefer to use the expression "Merry Christmas" are automatically trying to infringe on the rights of others. *smile* Perhaps it's just that we are celebrating a holiday in the same way we have for hundreds of years. When we said it a hundred years ago, who were we trying to offend?

Good luck!
