You--one person, any person--really can't say what the difference is between a poem and lyrics. Only the author can say. Some poetry is song, some lyrics are poetry. To get to determine whether another person's work is a song and not a poem is an arrogant. Look at Leonard Coen and the Beatles. They wrote/write songs, but their songs are listed in the poetry anthologies of every high school and college in the nation.

While songs and lyrics do share some similarities, there are several unique differences as well. And, they are not differences that I have determined. They are differences well known literary minds have established. So, hang on to this thought for now.

Appreciate you taking the time to read this and to write a review.
