I think it's a very moving portrait of the forgotten and overlooked people in the world that we don't often think of because we are so wrapped up in making Christmas a treat for the people in our own families. All the details of the situation of the single struggling mom and the little boy dreaming of the presents other people's children get really tugged at the heart strings. The blessings at the end warm up the story and it is a great 'feel good' Christmas tale along the lines of Christmas Carol but with a modern feel to it. estory

Thanks for reposting this. Christmas is the worst time of the year for so many because it hurts to know you will disappoint your childrer. I always think of that country song. "If we make it through December, everythings gonna be all right" I'm glad you story and your real story as well had happy endings.

I read author notes before beginning the poem. It really set the tone and served as reminder that love and ingenuity can make miracles. We all be a gift to each other in this world, with our kind hearts and deeds.
