A very well-written poem and a great interpretation of the picture. Children seem to think we were born as old as we are today. It is not easy for them to see how we could be younger.

Maria, I love the conversational tone of this poem between a grandmother trying to tell a story of her young love and her grandchildren's constant interruptions before the story starts. I am reminded of my own interruptions of Grandma Jennie when she told stories.

Your conversation is animated. I can imagine Grandma getting more irritated. I love the short sentences. My only problem was with these because they do not read smoothly:

And I was young
Of wrinkles free

I suggest

When I was young
And wrinkle free

Other than that, this is a fine poetic response to the challenge. Thank you for sharing it.
