good poem with sad message. I wasn't aware of those statistics.
With your menagerie, I can see you are a true animal lover.
I have also wondered at the human loss in boxers and football players- probably a lower ratio, but still... and of course, humans don't get put down for broken legs.
As sad and inhuman as it is, people will continue to watch. I know we will watch our three.
However, your poem was fun to read, at first - well done - and then certainly got your point across.

And, importantly, humans have a say in whether they wish to be boxers or footballers or not. Those who want to defend the sport will do so, as is their right. If only the horses had a voice :) Thanks for reviewing, and for the well-considered comments. Craig

Nicely written piece on the sport of horse-racing and its devastating dark side that many of us do not know. The poem had great rhyme and I thought the rhythm was pretty good, too... Great job!
