Your Short Poem made me smile Craig and I love the title you chose. You even got a little Halloween in with the bats in the belfry - it's amazing some of the conspiracy theories that get bandied around.
still smiling,
cheers

Thanks so much for the kind words, Valda. I missed the Halloween contest, but at least I posted something in keeping with the theme! Glad it made you smile. All the best, Craig

This is a very cute short poem you have penned for the contest. You used very good descriptive wording and very cute imagery that went well with your words. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

I can never tell if people like him are for real, or just milking the dark side of humanity for shock and money.

Well done with this tongue and cheek play on words that touches current events in a pleasing, mentally teasing sort of way, while simutaneously pointing out the frustrating insanity the whole thing stirs. (great flow with the rhyme and pace of the pieces too)

A short poem, with the edge of ... Ahhhh, nuts, nutters and more nuttie nutters. I enjoyed it. The only thing that really saddens me is that I have brain cells that have been touched enough times to attribute Alex Jones's existence at all.

(nice presentation too)

I suspect you may be correct in that he doesn't really believe an iota of his own nonsense. The thing that saddens me the most is that so many actually buy this drivel.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments and for your constant support, Turtle. It means a lot :)

A very well-written short poem. The old saying where there is smoke there must be fire comes to mind. Most things in life we should rather leave untouched. There are things on the other hand we need to bring in the open.

Thanks for reviewing, Sandra. There's a difference between questions that must be asked, and insanity, in my view. I'd put InfoWars in the latter category :) Cheers, Craig.

G'Day mate. I live in Queensland. Please to meet you. For your little poem, I haven't a clue how to edit/review it. I posted my first fifty-word flash a while back. And it's harder than herding sheep. So I'll say this, I read every word, I enjoyed it, so hows that? Sincerely Anne.

Haha, thanks Anne. Short ones are hard to judge, I'll agree with that. Appreciate the kind comments - Craig.

A bit too simplistic for me. There isn't any depth or thought, nor is it anything original. Cute, but not worth more than a cursory glance.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

I wouldn't usually reward such a short piece with six stars, but this works perfectly in terms of the rhyme and the meter and of course the humour right on point. The last two lines in particular are sweet in the jingly rhythm and the cute twisting of the 'bats in the belfry' expression.

Good luck with the committee.

Steve

PS Also - my thoughts entirely!

This is a hoot, Craig. If I had a six left you'd get one. That said, your poem is twenty syllables which it's supposed to be, your metre is perfect as is your rhyme scheme. Wonder why they call it scheme? It must be short for schemata, yes? I can see why you didn't use a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock even though they're cuter.

You know what I think of InfoWars, so I really dig your tone of nonchalant retort of keep your paws off my bats.

Super job and I wish you all the best in the contest with this gem.

Gloria

    Thanks so much, Gloria :)

I was tossing up whether to put "Alex Jones that" or "InfoWars that". Either way, some people won't have a clue who I'm on about (I wouldn't have myself until a couple of months ago). Any preference?

I find InfoWars flows just a wee bit better, but on the other foot Alex has that hatchet chopping sound. ;-)

I'm reluctant to answer, as I don't want to give the guy airplay. But here goes...

Jones is an alt-right "gentleman" who peddles his conspiracy theories on his own website and radio. Among them are the following:

    * The Sandy Hook massacre was faked.
    * The government puts additives in juices to turn kids gay.
    * The world's "elite" are planning on exterminating 90% of the population.
    * 9/11 was an inside job.
    * Obama is the global head of Al-Qaeda.

Sadly, many many people actually buy his stuff.

LOL ... one card short of a deck is another one. I wouldn't want anyone poking around in my belfry either ... waaaay too many bats in there. Well, one has to do something with too much time on their hands. I'd say that writing a poem sure beats getting into some kind of mischief.

This was a unique idea for a write, Craig. It gave me a chuckle! I could relate. Good luck in the contest! ~~ Connie
