Being close is not a problem with my ex-wife's side of the family, kahpot. They all either live with a fellow family member, or within ten miles of each other.
Those who are no longer living are buried in the Ash Ridge Cemetery not five miles away--the whole lot of 'em.
Needless to say, they are a very close-knit group.

Okay. This is great except (In My Haughty Opinion) you have used the wrong pronoun. A dead person doesn't write poems and it sounds whiney to boot. If you change "I" to "We," I think you'd have a dynamite poem. You would also have a repeating line like a hymn's refrain
Born he was to wanting hands
Buried he was in lonely lands

This is a deep message conveyed in two short lines, although it would not have the same meaning without your footnote to explain it.
Very well done, anyways.

Lovely picture and words,so few that say so much. I've never seen that movie but I am a Russell Crowe fan so I'll check it out. You are so right that family being in your life is the most important thing, keeping them close. My brother and I didn't talk for years, I'm not sure why, he just drifted away from the family. The next time we were together was at his funeral. Never let go of the ones you love.

It's a wonderful thing to be born to wanting hands. It would be terrible to be an unwanted child, yet many are. Loving hands will always bring you home.

A very well-written poem. When we grow up we wish we could be far away from our siblings. They drive us mad at times. When we are adults and older we realize how much part of us they really are.

Wanting hands can have two layers of meaning .one a family that is in want.
two. affectionate .a family that makes a child wanted.
Forced to migrate their life is finished in alien lands
quite a sad scenario.I hope my understanding is right.

Hi there;
Thank you for sharing your poem inspired by the Russell Crowe movie. It is hard to think of being far from our loved ones, and if we could achieve world peace, maybe no one would have to travel across the globe unless they wanted to,

This is a profound poem I was born into a family where I was not a wanted child. I do hope your day is filled with many wonderful and beautiful things... Patricia
