I am inspired to check this book out, Maria. I am also very impressed with your short review. I like how you introduce the book & author, then give a brief synopsis of both plot and themes.. But what I liked best is your impressions of the author's STYLE. Only another writer would Oxus on that element. Very nicely done! Rod

It sounds like a great read. I empathise and agree with you in the passage below, because this is something I also tend to do when I read a book that gives me something back that I'd like to keep and come back to again and again:

I have to say I envy Doerr's talent. I think that apart from enjoying myself, I have learned an awful lot reading this marvellous tale. I read almost exclusively on my Kindle, but if I had bought the paperback, I would have underlined something on almost every page.
