Maria, this is wonderfully expressed. I so long to have my eyesight return to a degree that I can once again hold a book in my hands and read. My vision is such that it is a real struggle for me to read a simple page. I have always loved to read and this is driving me nuts, that giving up read is depressing. Patricia

I do hope you can see better again soon, Patricia.
Thanks for reading.

The doctors do not give me a lot of hope that it improves, we are just hoping it will not get much worse. If it remains about the same as it is now, I will still be able to read on the computer.

Don't they sell large-print books anymore? I remember having seen them in a British library somewhere.

A very enjoyable short poem my friend. I feel the exact same way, and I am sure many do too. It is the best opening a new novel and starting it, each page is a new adventure.

Hi, Maria;
Thank you for this poem extolling the power of reading. I know I can get lost for hours with a good book in my hands. I've been reading books on character and viewpoint, along with grammar and crafting the novel for the past few weeks. I miss reading for pleasure!

I guess it probably depends on the book, the bible inspires me. I loved "Lord of the rings," Robinsom Crusoe" and many more. But well done, Maria, thanks for reminding me, blessings, Roy

I always feel I never do these little poems justice. I need more words!
Thanks for reading.

A very well-written katawta and ode to books that brings laughter, tears, romance and love between the pages of a book that we read. It us the best time we can spend with friends.

It's a sad thing to see books killed by technology. We used to "cuddle up with a good book," not so great with a Kindle!
I liked your 5-7-7, it could stand alone, which is where the club's intention is headed
Hugs, Trisha

How are you liking that class Maria. I can see a difference in your 5-7-5 piece here than others I've seen you write. I like the last line. It's almost like an answer to the rest of your piece. Great work. xoxo Kiwi

Well, it's the first poem I write for the club. But I prefer prose and longer poetry. I never seem to be able to express what I want using these Japanese forms.
Thanks for reading.

hahahahaha! This is fun, MJ!
But I have a question -- is this a novel by someone else that you are READING or a novel of your own that you are WRITING that you are discussing here??!! I can see how either one might apply. *smile* Thanks so much for the intriguing look into this question. And into a different kind of 'love' poem. hahaha!
Thanks!!
