Hi there,
This is a well written piece. Cuba is something of an enigma and a place of contradictions if one is to listen to all of the propaganda about the place.
Best of luck

This is a very good contest entry. It meets all of the requirements and there are no spags that I can see. I have a friend who lives in Porto Rico. He has a passport that allows him to travel to Cuba. When he's in Florida he brings me Cohibas.

I loved your reminiscing story of your Uncle Frank and his tales of Cuba! I always thought it was a dangerous place to be? But maybe it has changed now. I live part of the year in Spain and I meet many who have escaped the live there and moved here to make a new start as Spain is slightly more prosperous. I love the Spanish language and I'm still getting to grips with it slowly. I really enjoyed your story and I hope you get to visit his home town one of the days, love Dolly x

Well crafted with descriptions that are so vivid the reader is transported to the scene. I could see the uncle's brown finger on the map, smell his perfumed cigars.
An excellent write.
to find out where was this exotic place. ~ I'd suggest you put the "was" after "place".

Interesting man as he puffs on his cigar. Telling of the sandy beaches and other interesting things about Cuba. Things to make a young boy want to visit when he reaches manhood. Sounds like uncle knew how to get the attention of everyone.

Good childhood memory. I can see why you are fascinated with Cuba. It's too bad that it's controlled by Communists and no longer a free and happy island. There have been songs written about people missing their homeland, those who moved away to be free. Sad, really.

This entry really intrigued me because I have a friend who emigrated from Cuba when he was a teenager and often talks of going back. I especially like how you introduce Uncle Frank and his perfumed cigar. The reader can understand why the narrator, after listening to these tales, would put Cuba on his bucket list.

A very well-written story about Cuba and the very well-known cigars that are made and imported from there all over the world. Cigar smokers are convinced it is the best.
