Okay, yes, I needed your explanation. Maybe a little too obscure because I think most will need an explanation. But overall a very creative poem. Maybe too aggressive for three lines but makes you think!

It was my intention to make the reader think about the question of how he felt in 1900, figuring his thought process would say, "i wasn't even alive then, so I didn't feel anything," and then he'd have that a-ha! moment. But, as you thought, the first reviewer didn't get it "completely," and didn't bother to try, dismissing the whole thing with a four-star rating, so I added the author's note.

Thank you, Michael. I appreciate your comments, which are very reassuring. I think the poem is on the right track now.

An interesting prospective on life. Is it really the same before you're born and after you die. Too bad no one is around to tell us for sure. Well done and best of luck in the contest.

I'm sorry you didn't get it, Teols. The poem explains why you don't have to fear death. It asks you how you felt in 1900.
Think about it. How did it feel before you were born? Unless you are more than 117 years old, you didn't feel a thing, You simply didn't exist. No pain, no problems. Same thing after you die.

If that makes sense to you, I'd appreciate it if you would add a star to your rating. Thanks.

Thank you, Teols, for taking the time to go back and reflect on this question. I hope the answer is reassuring for you. (I added an author's note for others who don't get it at first, and already another reviewer has admitted he needed the explanation. As they say, "All's well that ends well" - an intended double entendre.
