The unsung hero in our child's life is his or her teacher. Don't doubt it for a moment. For little pay and a whole lot of aggravation they show up every day and
have as a goal only this...let my students go home today a little kinder, safer, braver and brighter.....

Love this.

A very well-written acrostic poem and a great explanation of the role of teachers and pupils in schools. The one cannot operate with the other. Children need a teacher and a he teacher needs the children.

    Hello Sandra du Plessis: I know that you know what you're talking about. I've been a pupil. Today I am a teacher's assistant. I write to children in a way that is designed to teach children to stop, look, and listen, get aboard the obedience train, and follow, honor, respect, and love their teachers. This is my endeavor.

An imaginative way of using the alphabet to explain the roll of teachers in society today. It would be a real plus if other students and graduates would think the same way. It would show our hard working teachers that they are indeed appreciated for their commitments to the children.

    Hello tocrie: One of the first things I noticed on my first day in school (kindergarten) was the alphabet letters that they had lined in a straight neat row above the black board. Curiosity made them more impressive to me than our teacher, who was so young, that she looked to me, like one of us kids. Talk about a nice, pretty lady. That experience sort of set the bar with me for girl teachers. The boy teachers reminded me of Dad.They were cool like Dad. Cool like respect or be wrecked. The alphabet letters were like a TV set. I sat there staring at them. I liked them. Well...thanks to my girl and boy teachers, I'm using the alphabet to write my heart to you. To this day I like the alphabet letters. I'll bet that you like them too, writer.

Well deserved first place here, with teachers being spelt out in acrostic formation. I agree, teachers have it hard trying so hard to put new information into reluctant minds. Minds which unfortunately are being distracted by Iphones, TV, friends, peer pressure and media. Well done.

SIX STARS for you, dear poet. This poem sent chills all over my body, because it is so real and realistic. I feel the power and strength of your words and there is such caring and discipline in your rhymes. You should make flash cards and pass these out to your children and/or students. After contest, tell me who you are, because you have my thumbs up. Good luck! Please check out mine, also, and the 2 books by my poems. WELL DONE! liberty justice

Well, I have to admit that as a former teacher I appreciate this tribute. You have written an acrostic YOUNG readers (I.e.--"scholars") should appreciate.

Dear Anonymous Poet;
Thank you for sharing your acrostic about TEACHERS. You used the letters to give a good description of the things teachers do every day. They are certainly an essential part of life.

From what I can tell, you have met the requirements of the contest prompt, so good luck!
