Dip, This is an excellent and great poem you have penned. This is a very good story in a poem. You told a story of getting to where you are today. You told of coming by ship and being a migrant. It is true we all seem to be related in some sort of way. It is truly hard to point fingers at anybody anymore. Very good descriptive wording and very good imagery with your words. A well deserved six stars in my eyes! Blessings, Teri

Dip, you are so welcome my friend. There are many times you deserve the six stars but I don't have them when I would like to give them. I hope you have a great week my friend. Blessings, Teri

I know those feelings, living in a strange land and trying to integrate with the locals, some accept you and others hate you, but in the end you stay, food for thought here Dip, love Dolly x

This is an excellent poem. I thought the rhymes were very natural and unforced. The piece has a good rhythm and an even flow. Great message about our common history as members of the human race. Thank you for sharing your work.

You are absolutely right that most of us are migrants. And as such, we should be more accepting of others whose ships just happened to arrive a couple of generations later. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case these days. Thanks, Dip, for sharing your sentiments on a sensitive issue.

An excellent story in a poem, I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the way you wrote it as a type of diary through the years. I loved the rhyme and the ending. Cheers. Jen.

You deserve six stars because of choosing such an important topic. People quickly forget, even if they were immigrants themselves in the past. Take Trump, for example. His mother and his wife are both immigrants...
Thanks for a great post.

This is wonderfully written and the point you make so true. We all want acceptance in this world, but many can't find it. I really worried about the direction our country is heading. There's so much hatred.

Have a great day and God bless.

In my family , we only have to go back to my grandfather who was only eight years old when he was brought to America from Germany. So it is so true we do not have to go back very far. Patricia

Good morning, DIP:

You are so right. It's what we teach our children from infancy. I was never taught to mistreat anyone. My parents taught us to love everyone and accept the as they are. Jesus taught that this is the second most important commandment, to love your neighbor as your self.

If the whole world was taught this from infancy and teach it to their own children then the world would be such a better place.

Good poem. It's very encouraging.

You have really projected yourself into the skin of the immigrants in this, for you, fairly long poem. It is something you and most Americans should never forget -- how recently you were virtually all immigrants in lands sparsely populated by indigenous peoples.

Of course if you go back far enough we were all immigrants one way or another. It is a never ending process.

That's exactly what my intent was. We can't go back too far when we were all immigrants both in my country Australia which has only been settled by white man for 230 years and America. and Christopher Columbus.

    thanks as always Panty
